its a joke, you know, haha funny? try it sometime
when i heard it being sung i was a bit embarassed bcos i thought to myself, will they actually know what we were singing?
as well,i associate it with Arsenal singing it to us when we threw away a 2-0 lead in the carling cup so i would prefer to sing it at them, or any of the top 4.well any premier league club really bcos at least they will def understand it
I was at the game, and it was definitely banter. They gave us A LOT of stick in the first half, all of which was deserved. Likewise, when they threw away a 0-2 lead, do you really expect any of them were surprised that the opposition fans (i.e. us) let them know about it? Ridiculous that anybody should take offence to that, let alone a home fan...
Just try to get to the bottom of the first page PYiddy. then you wont have to tell me to get over myself etc.
And non banter chants are like the sol campbell ones. Its pretty much what it says in the name
so you are lumping in "2-0 and you fucked it up" into the same bracket as a chant which says you should get aids and kill yourself?
They knew EXACTLY what was being sung. Read my post above - they sang it about themselves after the match. If you bump into a norwegian you'll find that their spoken English is typically excellent, which is why there was so much to-ing and fro-ing between their fans and ours. It was good-natured banter on both sides.
One other point - I went to most of the home UEFA Cup games last season and was also at the match last week, and the atmosphere at all these games was great, with the away supporters getting a huge round applause from the spurs fans after each game. We recognise the cost that their fans have incurred to follow their team to WHL and the away fans in the UEFA Cup usually really get behind their team, and immediately after every game I attended (wasn't at the Getafe game so cannot comment on that) they have been applauded by the spurs fans. That is the sign of home supporters that are welcoming to away fans, not home supporters that are a bunch of w***ers.
Whilst I understand that hearing a chant on the tv might not sound great, I'd suggest that one chant isn't taken in isolation leading to the listener assuming it is spurs fans being out of order. There's usually far more to it than one chant......
No you fucking prat.
Seriously, grow a brain. :bang:
On TV, it sounded like our fans were being twats. People who were also watching on tv have backed me up on this.
However, people at the game have said it was just banter, and their fans were giving it out too. Fair enough, I have admitted I was wrong. If you watched it on TV, you would probably have agreed with me at the start.
ANd hybridsoldier youre a fucking moron try reading a whole thread before you just slag people off its not like its 5 pages
Meh maybe I was harsh. I was reading it and getting slightly fed up that half the responses were just over reactive abuse at me for saying something that others are saying was actually a fair point.
And jimtheyid about me 'backtracking' I am at least not so up myself that Im going to stubbornly stick to my view even when others have made me think twice about it. The point of the forum is discussion, whats the point of discussion if you cant change your mind
