Tbh he wasn’t hugely involved but what he did he did well and showed some real signs of class. You also have to consider this was against Juventus.
Our academy is starting to bear quite a bit of fruit now!!
And in this current transfer market with crazy prices, that's going to save us a fortune.
We didn’t make much money on his transfer but there was also Ryan Fredericks who may be West Ham’s starting RB this season. Our academy has been bearing fruit since 2011 (when we used the CL money for training center and academy restructure)
Andros-10m
Caulker-8m
Mason-10m
Bentaleb-17m
Carroll-8m
Pritchard-10m
Then now we have Kane,Winks,Onomah,Skipp and now likes of Parrott.

Has Tanganga shown that sort of quality in the youth team ?

How old is he?yes but not for a while, he's been in a bit of a rut this past year or so but that often happens with players when they spend too much time playing u23s. i thought he did well today but never really had to exert himself.

I was worried he'd fallen into the same rut that so many do when they make the transition from u18s to u23s. We've had several CBs especially who thought were very promising all fall into the same thing and I was worried Tanganga was going to do the same.yes but not for a while, he's been in a bit of a rut this past year or so but that often happens with players when they spend too much time playing u23s. i thought he did well today but never really had to exert himself.
I don't like this toxic notion that if you dont have the right attitude you won't get a chanceAnd to those left at home (Edwards springs to mind), this is the level of work ethic, mentality, drive and fitness you need to just be included in a Poch preseason. Can't be arsed? There's the door. No room for stragglers, no matter how talented you maybe.
There will no doubt be more than one reason why player A gets a chance and player B doesn't, and Poch's preference for a certain type of player may well be one of them. However, I don't understand why a player's attitude as an important determinant in this is a 'toxic notion'.I don't like this toxic notion that if you dont have the right attitude you won't get a chance

No its toxic to suggest that players who dont make it, is because they dont have the "right attitude", yet there is no proof of this and if there is could someone direct me towards it?There will no doubt be more than one reason why player A gets a chance and player B doesn't, and Poch's preference for a certain type of player may well be one of them. Tanganga, has missed a year or so of footy due to injuries but has great raw potential, whereas Tomori has excelled because last season he was managed by his youth coach who had faith in him.Any read on how his potential compares to Eyoma?
Thought Tanganga's positioning in the Juve game was good and his tackling looked very technical, maybe just enough pace on him. Seems a very good passer and that could be one of his best traits. There were one or two times when he stepped up past the halfway line to put in a precise (and not clumsy) technical foul without drawing a card, something that CCV really struggles with. He also had a really nice read for at least one interception, if not two. But aerially I thought he maybe looked just a tad out of his depth, lost at least one cross in mid air. Not sure his day would have been the same if he had spent more time with Higuain on the pitch. At 20 years old, not likely that he's going to fill out more physically.
Tanganga and Eyoma are built similarly. Just wonder if either of them have a future in a back four. Both have potential in a back three but with an even less physically imposing build than Foyth, I'm just not sure you can make the case.
I'm also thinking realistically, Tanganga's a year behind Fikayo Tomori at Chelsea but seems to be miles behind in terms of development, got one call up to the England U21s in September but seems to now be getting passed over by players like Tomori that are getting 40+ Championship level starts. Not that Tomori needs to be the benchmark here, everyone can be on a different path, but its always useful to have a comparison. Eyoma also has been getting more regular international duty with the U19s, for what its worth.

Tomori would have never played for derby as long as he did if Jody Morris didn't know him or believe in him, the fact that he was allowed to play over high earners in the team in the championship is proof of this.
