We are clearly taking steps to try and improve our performances by targeting players with pace and hopefully a defensive midfielder.

We are never going to play champagne football every match, no team in the world does, but as long as we are still picking up the results to compete then the manager definitely deserves patience.

We've played 3 GAMES this season. Some fans need to grow a pair and strap in for the ride.

Even roller-coasters get boring after a while, I've been on the Tottenham Hotspur Bollock Smasher for 40yrs!!!

Have a read through the last ten or so pages of this thread dude and you'll see nobody is talking about the last 3 games. It's since he's joined. Anyway, read the pages and you'll see I'm not going to type out what everyone has said. Im not sure if anybody is going over the top, it's a level headed discussion about the last 12 months.

Some people have to be seen as super supporters. It's a natural reaction.

It's not Pochettino's fault we have an average, unbalanced and inexperienced squad.

Given that he has frozen out or sold most of our experienced players because they were not able or willing to play in his methods, he does share some responsibility. I also rather suspect that he supports buying in young, malleable players, rather than experienced pros who might have ideas of their own.

You do worry that he's only a few bad beatings away from some real pressure being Put on him. Bit like when the dippers and city smashed us under AVB (though there was obviously other stuff going on with him)

Poch I treat like any of the players. He gets the season. See if our performances warrant us putting our faith in him for another year. Fuck this "give him 5 years" or " levy wants a yes man until the stadium is built"

When he signed his 5 year deal I always thought, give him 3 years. That should be plenty of time to see some tangible evidence of what he wants to achieve, style wise. At the moment it's pretty shit but that's to be expected, tbh.

Because the opposition won't let us?
Shoot, of course! If only Pochettino didn't have to face various opposition 50 + matches a season.

It is interesting that in the entire selling deadwood buying his own player aspect of the debate, he was said to have impressed directors because he has little to no expectations to change the squad, he was happy working with the one handed him at the time. (This as opposed to other manger candidates).

Then he goes on to sign players he wants rid of after a year, he actively chooses to sideline a large proportion of the squad rather than working with them (as promised), and lastly he is in need of a over haul after a year.

From a more general perspective, debating these things must be allowed, without anybody suggesting that one is not supporting the club, or without pulling the "it's only been 3 matches, 3 months, not enough time" card.

"The fans are disappointed with the dull football Poch delivers" I hate it also but it does not surprise me as it was the same at Espanyol.
Did you watch the EPL this weekend because it looks like it contagious as Southampton and few other looked just as one passed and dreadful.
I dont give a toss what the fans really do or think. We are 3 games in to a new season. Poch is here for the foreseeable future so they might as well shut fuck up and cut him some slack. All this incessant negativity serves little purpose, it won't make Poch change his style. So as far as I'm concerned they can blow the pipes if they think the will help.

Poch is here to oversee football coaching while the stadium is built......then, at this rate, he will be gone.

But be my guest ........

The thing is I saw how dull Espanyol were after Poch had been there 3 seasons so you'll forgive me if I have a rather jaundiced view about him taking us forward

I'm really not bothered about what other teams do in the PL I want to see us playing attractive football, so what Southampton do or don't do is pretty irrelevant and I have to say from some of the highlights I've seen some clubs have played some good stuff

As for you not caring what the fans do or think, well I doubt Levy really gives a toss what you think either, because if he decides he is unhappy with a coach he'll be gone, so you might equally like to shut the fuck up because it won't be down to you or I to make the decision.

That said I guess if enough fans voice dissatisfaction then it may lean him towards that decision that much quicker, so I'm more than happy to hear fans voice their concerns and unhappiness and yes it may well serve a purpose

In case you have forgotten AVB was here to oversee the coaching whilst the stadium was being progressed too and that didn't last long and then for a little while I remember hearing Levy thought he had found his "Pep Guardiola" in Timmah and that lasted even less time, so if I were you I wouldn't be expecting him to still be around by the time the stadium is built, Levy's track record suggests that's pretty unlikely

The performances were generally overlooked last season due to the results we were churning out, lucky or not. Now, however, we are seeing the same slow build up and lacklustre attacking performances but we are failing to win games.

Like with Redknapp?

"We never had it so good" :woot:

That's a fair point, but I think Harry's problem was that a number of fans got upset not with his football but that they thought he would take the England job and maybe had taken his eye of the team in those weeks of speculation and cost us a CL place because of it

We finished 5th last season and have only narrowly lost once this season and fans are already getting twitchy. I fucking despair reading some of the shit on this forum, I really do...
Did you drive to Leicester to watch it because I did? It was rubbish and boring as we have been for some time now. I think we're entitled to feel a little disappointed at this stage with the quality of football and the fact that it feels as though we're going backwards

I definitely don't agree with that, no matter how many times you press copy & paste.
I think we had a decent squad last season, as I said early on, probably the fifth best squad in the league.
Not more than we can expect, really. Now, for this season, I guess we have the sixth best squad. Maybe. The key is, we have started uphill, underperforming. Will that continue or not?

Well if the manager isn't capable of getting the players he wants then you have to ask what is the point of that manager. It's also fair to challenge the statement, are all our buys so bad that a good manager can't get some decent football out of them and how did the previous players managers manage it?

Like Erik Lamela, you have to say that this season is the season by which we ought to measure Pochettino. Whilst I'd like us to keep faith in him and hope he is not sacked even if we finish 8th (I'd view that as a terrible season) - I think most of us already know he is a good manager. Not (as it stands) a miracle worker, nor a hapless fool.

But the one thing we have lacked in the last, oh I don't know 14 years or more is any sort of consistency in the club's direction. Teams and Managers will have good and bad seasons and I'd hope even if we finish lower than we hope one year, we could easily finish higher than our expectations another year. Luck plays such an important part, as does money.

The Southampton and EPL reference was more to illustrate how after 3 games into a season it may be early to judge.
