Too many tourists at the game in general. I get people want to experience the new stadium but there are so many first timers who really have very little interest in watching the game. Too many social media accounts whores, too many non football fans and too many people who clearly haven’t supported spurs for more than 5 minutes.

As for the stadium, service, queues and quality of the sausage rolls have definitely gone downhill!!! Give me a bagel and a pissy toilet floor at the old stadium any day!!

I realise I'm being a grumpy old sod, but I genuinely think we peaked in that last season at the lane. And ever since we moved out and knocked it down (cl final aside) we've never been the same (and whisper it but I don't think we'll reach that peak again).

You're not in 515 are you...? we have one of them in there with us.
We call him 'Wrong Guy'. He loudly shouts "I aint gonna put up wiv this shit anymore" - he rarely has a un-shared thought.
Reckon he might initiate a crowdfunded Tifo with 'My pulled-pork ramen is tepid' on it. It'll look majestic.
Ha! I am in 515 actually. Not sure I've heard him but he sounds like great fun.
Another from 515 here and yep drinks service at HT is shocking. I’ve given up trying to get a drink now as always end up missing the start of the 2nd half

Last night did make me appreciate the usual ST crowd a bit more as we had some really annoying guys around us vaping all match (watched half the game through a stinky thick green fog) and another load giving running commentary “pass pass pass no not there switch it switch it SWITCH IIIIIIIIIT” :banghead:

Normally blank out the annoying ones but these would not shut up the whole game.

I’ve alluded to it in the VAR thread but my match day experience is ruined mainly by VAR. The whole week you look forward to the match and to hope to watch your team score and celebrate like a nutter with your friends, letting out all the stress you have, if any, from work or difficult life situations etc. That moment has been taken away from us by VAR. Unless it’s a very obvious goal that can’t be overturned, which is rare, I can rarely celebrate a goal now. Not properly. And that is ruining my match day experience. Even when VAR rules in our favour, it’s just not worth it overall.

I don’t drink so can’t comment on the service etc. I usually get a chicken shish wrap from the Turkish opposite the ground but their prices have gone up twice in 2 months (they blame Spurs and say they’ve put the rent up £50k!).

Because I’m classed as vulnerable re covid, I can’t risk packed trains so I drive to the ground nowadays and park in an inds est nearly 3 hours before the game starts! Have a shish, get in soon after it opens so no big crowds inside and then chill or chat to friends until game starts. Loooong day nowadays but despite all the changes I’ve had to make, it’s VAR that’s ruining my frickin’ day.

Completely agree - VAR kills the match experience as it takes away the most joyous part of going. Unless someone bangs one in from 25 yards you just can’t celebrate without that nagging fear in your head. The worst thing is, as a fan at the game you have no idea what’s going on and have far less information that the people watching on TV. There’s very little unhinged joy at PL matches these days

I was in the upper Paxton last night and was shocked at the amount of ‘c words’ being shouted. Lots of little kids around too. Kinda expect it in the south but always thought Paxton was more family side.

I had an idea to improve the service. If the club paid double or triple wages to the staff of the outlet that serves the most customers during the game they would have an incentive to speed up. It wouldn’t cost the club anything as the extra sales around the ground would cover the bonus.

Frankly I still can’t get past the fact that at a premier league game you can utter the words “I’ll have the crispy oyster mushroom burger on beetroot brioche bun please”.

To be fair in the ‘good old days’ the burgers outside the ground never tasted like they had any actual beef in them

I don't really enjoy the experience inside the stadium, I have to admit (especially recently with some of the first half football we're serving up). I still love the pre-match buzz but I only go in the stadium to watch the game. I sit north upper and love my view but it's always fucked me off how long it takes to get a beer so I've just given up with that.

I used to be surrounded by ST holders who I got to know but now there are different faces every week, which is fine except the last few games it's been people just calling our own players ****s and saying how shit we are. There's a bloke a few seats up from me who is a ST holder and I can't work him out for the life of me - he moans constantly throughout the first half, disappears 5 minutes before half-time and then never comes back for the second half. Every week he does the same thing - why would you do that? If anything, turn up at half-time because sometimes we actually play good football in the second half ;)

Also, I echo the comment above about Tottenham Hale over Seven Sisters. It's a shorter walk and after a game it means you're on the train before the masses get on at Seven Sisters. Don't tell anyone else though as it's our secret...
I had a season ticket last season in the North upper and this sounds like what it was like for me, except it was everyone just moaning every game. Sucked the life out of me, even games we won I came away drained because of all the negativity. One guy near me spent almost every game on FaceTime talking to friends. Imagine paying that much and then just never watching the games ?

This. To me it boggles the mind that people order something like that at a football ground and seem to expect it to be restaurant quality.

Tip: Food and drink served in stadiums at major sporting/musical events is shite and overpriced so if you absolutely have to buy something in the ground, surely get something simple that they can't fuck up. Even then they'll still probably manage to and charge you double what it would've cost outside anyway

There were plans to have a tube station below the stadium called Tottenham Hotspur. It was going to use the already existing tunnels and be a branch line from Tottenham Hale.

However, TFL decided that they would try to fleece us and wanted us to foot 100% of the costs and they demanded a significant share of the ongoing revenue.

We (rightly) told them to do one.

Playing devil's advocate a but but given that :

a) We wanted the station as a club to serve our own (private business) needs
b) The station would be largely unnecessary outside of match days

Why should TFL pay for it? The benefit is 100% to THFC and match-going fans (plus a handful of people who live next to the ground might shave a few minutes off their commute).

For the amount of money it would've cost vs the money PL clubs squander on all kinds of things all year, I think it's perfectly reasonably for TFL to tell us to fuck off and pay for it ourselves

It would help if they didn't train the staff while the bars are open
What about hiring staff who already have experience of working in shops, pubs or restaurants? There must be plenty of people who have that type of experience.

I agree, but I also think that if Spurs had paid for such a station, it would only have been fair for the club to take the lion's share of the profits.

Fully agree. Which is why the sticking point was less about the costs but TFL wanted a ridiculous share of the revenue
