The overall match-going experience…

Does anybody else feel like the overall match going experience has dropped off a cliff this season?

Maybe I’m just angry about recent performances, but I’m getting more frustrated recently about going to games and the standards of service when I get there.

I do understand that I’m lucky to be a season ticket holder, and not all people are afforded the opportunity to enjoy that privilege, but I really think the standards are dropping.

The agency staff are largely dreadful. Every beer I’ve had over the last few games has been flat. The food isn’t as good as last season. And tonight, I paid an extra £150 on top of my season ticket for my wife and I, and we we surrounded in the West Upper by Sporting Fans.

I’m sure I wouldn’t be moaning if we playing better, but it all feels a bit “meh” at the moment (as I sit on a delayed train back to Brighton)

Yes, yes, first world problems.

Got to be honest I was surprised that they allowed the sporting fans to stay in the west stand.
cant have away fans in the home stands - in colours, cheering and everything.
immediate ejection

cant speak about the quality of food/ beer etc as I have only been to the CL games this season and haven’t noticed anything worse than last year.

There was a Spurs fan sitting on the same stand that the OP sat at, this fan was constantly abusing the players in the first half, he really had it in for Perisic and then in the second half, he was describing how everyone was shit. He had his young son with him and he was at least in his mid to late 40s. I know the first half performance was poor but constantly abusing the players was really odd and it wasnt a pleasant experience.

It was like someone was reading out the match day thread loud.

I paid £4:29 for a nearly raw sausage roll. Just binned most of it. Couldn’t be arsed to complain as I was already in my seat and the game had started.

Yeah, the food has got worse. However, the pie I got today (the first I've had this season) came in a very useful pie cover thing which I thought was ingenious.

At the Newcastle game, I had a crispy oyster mushroom burger on beetroot bricohe bun and unfortunately the bun was possibly stale. Not good.

I've also noticed they've got rod of the urinals on the high road which was very annoying today cos I was busting.

Just to add - and I absolutely know this is outside the clubs control - the trek up to Seven Sisters after a night game is just so painful ?

What I’d do for the convenient transport links enjoyed by our London neighbours.

Tottenham Hale is a better bet.

It's a UEFA rule. A % of away fans get premium seats.

My first games of the season will be Liverpool and Leeds so it will be interesting to see how it compares to last season. I've never had any complaints with the ground, food, drinks etc. It's all been very good so will be disappointed if the standards have dropped.

I must say though that I will not be trying the crispy oyster mushroom burger on beetroot bricohe bun. That is just asking for trouble.

I don't really enjoy the experience inside the stadium, I have to admit (especially recently with some of the first half football we're serving up). I still love the pre-match buzz but I only go in the stadium to watch the game. I sit north upper and love my view but it's always fucked me off how long it takes to get a beer so I've just given up with that.

I used to be surrounded by ST holders who I got to know but now there are different faces every week, which is fine except the last few games it's been people just calling our own players ****s and saying how shit we are. There's a bloke a few seats up from me who is a ST holder and I can't work him out for the life of me - he moans constantly throughout the first half, disappears 5 minutes before half-time and then never comes back for the second half. Every week he does the same thing - why would you do that? If anything, turn up at half-time because sometimes we actually play good football in the second half ;)

Also, I echo the comment above about Tottenham Hale over Seven Sisters. It's a shorter walk and after a game it means you're on the train before the masses get on at Seven Sisters. Don't tell anyone else though as it's our secret...

You're not in 515 are you...? we have one of them in there with us.
We call him 'Wrong Guy'. He loudly shouts "I aint gonna put up wiv this shit anymore" - he rarely has a un-shared thought.
Reckon he might initiate a crowdfunded Tifo with 'My pulled-pork ramen is tepid' on it. It'll look majestic.

Ha! I am in 515 actually. Not sure I've heard him but he sounds like great fun.

There were plans to have a tube station below the stadium called Tottenham Hotspur. It was going to use the already existing tunnels and be a branch line from Tottenham Hale.

However, TFL decided that they would try to fleece us and wanted us to foot 100% of the costs and they demanded a significant share of the ongoing revenue.

We (rightly) told them to do one.

Cat's well out of the bag

Tottenham Hale was great for the old ground because there would be hardly anyone using it, and you walked straight past The Volunteer on the way up.

Now it's just as busy, as there's 20k more people swarming on it, and after all the development the pub is overshadowed by awful high rises.

I sit in 102 and have definitely noticed the beer get worse. Flat as hell. The queues are bad but not that bad.

I don't know it it's just our block - we have the players' families and friends sitting behind us - but it seems the number of people just there to record the game on their phones has gone through the roof recently.

Fortunately right around me there are really nice people who are there every week. The lady behind me is lovely but does make me laugh - she screams 'I don't like this. I don't like this at all. it's just not good enough Tottenham!' in exactly the same way after 2 minutes of every game. And to be fair, she's usually right!

After the travesty of that late VAR fiasco, virtually everything about the match going experience seemed a lot worse when I got home at 2am!

There was a bloke behind us who just kept shouting ' play it through the lines' for most of the first half. The novelty pretty soon wore off.

Its all abit sanitised now isn't it. I am an old git but my 20 - 30 year old self who used to go to the old Lane would not like it I don't think. However, for anyone who remembers the foot long hot dog and warm pint of pissy Carling for a fiver (that had been sitting behind the shutter for half an hour waiting for half time) the current food is a gastronomical delight. Seems we have become entitled not just about the football at our wonderful club.
