Better on the right, than the left.

I wanted him out at one point, but after a few games has done well and been one of the more consistent players.

Apparently left the ground on crutches and wearing a protective boot. Not heard or seen anything official though.

Should have been at the very least a booking.

Bertrand was late after overrunning the ball and went studs up into Naughton's shin. Straight red every time. Hopefully Naughton isn't too badly hurt. At least he's got the international break should he need a week or so to recover.

Agreed. Ref bottled it after not giving Rose a booking shortly before that.

Looked ok again today. Shocking tackle ended his game. Not even a foul given.

Did well yesterday. When his name was read out two numpties in front of me looked at each other and groaned, muttering something about Dier. Naughton did really well against the goons, and deserves his starting place at the moment - that's how you get players responding to you as a manager. Not dropping them as soon as your faves are half fit.

Anyone else find it a little refreshing to see players coming to their peak at the club, in their early twenties, rather than wunderkind who are immediately lined up for poaching by Real as soon as they clock their 18th birthday?

Mason, Naughton, Bentaleb & Kane are likely to all be on the pitch together at some point this year - one written off as a teenager but stayed to fight for a chance, one who came in as a free gift, one we "rescued" from obscurity and one who's made the grade through hard work. Sure, they might not be the polished article of some of the continental talent who come and go through the premier league, but the attitudes of these guys is exemplary - the drive to not give up, and look where it's got them. Tikaboo, lads.

Completely agree.

These players often make better squad players than the new starters as they are settled and improving their all-round game to fit in. They have to work to get into the team rather than the team having to adapt to the new players.

I thought Naughton might not quite make the grade after he was given a chance at right back and didn't perform but he's shown strength of character to become a success.

He genuinely did not do well yesterday before he got injured. Did everyone miss the ball that went across the face that he only kicked fresh air??

There's a danger going overboard with some of this chaps.

To be fair he did actually recover and block that shot that I'm pretty sure was going in. He's a lot better at RB than Dier.

Fairly sure you wouldn't give Walker the same grace. Hobson's Choice between him and Dier for me, defensively they're both meh and offer zilch going forward.

It looked like it hurt - lets hope that's paper talk..

Otherwise its Dier and Kaboul rotating at left back. (and Chiriches in the middle.....)
