If it wasn't clear, then this is what I meant re: my girthy hairy python post.

Thanks for mansplaining, sf77.

You know for years I thought that was new aged men who waxed different parts of their bodies unnecessarily. No idea why!

The annoying things is “on paper” N’Dombele, GLC and Dele would be huge losses to any side in terms of talent. The reality for us sadly is that right now they just hold us back. So we will look weaker “on paper” and we will need to sort that out as we have no run off with our squad and that paper is very thin ?

Oh I'll also add, we are looking to tie up specific out of contract players and short length contract players in the Summer, this has a knock on effect to what we do now as with these in mind we want to achieve a squad balance and not just shift the lopsidedness to another area.

Its all about being ready for next season?

Great updates Trix - really appreciate the info.

The club looking to sign out of contract players in the summer is a very good strategy as there will be some high quality, experienced internationals available. Personally I hope we are looking at Kessie (free) and Brozovic (free) in CM, and Romagnoli (free) and De Vrij (1 year contract remaining) at CB. Whilst there is no such thing anymore as a free transfer, not paying high fees will help us save up for a marquee signing up top.

Given the fact we will not get these players until July, and we are out of Europe, I would be happy with only Traore plus one other (CM) in this window.

It's great we are preparing for next season but we can get top four this season. I hope the club haven't given up on it

Media are so desperate for Conte to leave us.
yes and this narrative not going to go away till we sign some players and show support to AC, R Keane was saying that yesterday about will he be there in the summer and if so hes already in the last year of his contract

The approach to transfers and squad management just sounds so much more logical than in previous years. This gives me more confidence than individual transfers in the next week. Exciting times ahead if this is followed through and Conte stays and is happy.

Loaning out the talented but underperforming stars is a sensible idea. It's not like they are raising their profile sitting on our bench and if they click with a new club's culture / playing style then great - bigger transfer fee.

Can't call this window. Sounds like we are pushing for 3 in but wouldn't be surprised with only 1 in either.

Not gonna hold my breath when it comes to 3 in. I think we get 1 (Traore) and then say we tried. Roll on the summer where we need to make BIG moves and many of them.
If we are ever going to sign three players during a January transfer window then this is likely to be the one.

They’re very keen to see him at Old Trafford.
I'm not bed wetting or getting too OTT
He did walk out of his last job for the club not supporting him. If Utd come calling and we have given him who he feels is who he wants then it's not going to be an issue- Not supporting him would see him walk IMHO
The next week sounds the same - we want XYZ- I hope get players out of the door as much as new into the club.
Exciting times

Let's see what happens but it's great to have a manager who will shine a light on levy and expose him if he doesn't fulfill what he promised to get him to join.

I would imagine January is a better time to offload players as not many teams want to sell their good players and other desperate teams are looking to buy themselves out of trouble (Newcastle).

Can we stop the talk of the media wanting Conte to go to United pls - they can do one, and so can United. Ignore the jealous pricks. Don't wanna hear about it. At the end of the day, if that does ultimately end up happening it will be at the fault of the club.

I don't know what 'giving up' on top 4 even means. With this squad, as it is, without any additions, Conte has got us into a tentative pole position for that place. And that's having to do so from Nuno's base and with regular injuries to key players. Even if we signed nobody, but maintained our current form under Conte with this same team we'd be looking really strong for it. 'Giving up' would require us to throw in the towel. Not metaphorically, but actually just give up.

We're going to be in that race right to the end of the season regardless (a Kane injury notwithstanding, which really would be a massive blow).

just like they were always banging on about Poch going to Man U. As soon as we have anyone with skill the media do their best to try and push for them to move on to other big name clubs. Always baffles me why the media won't accept that Spurs can also have big name players/coaches.
