Told you all from the onset we would only do loans with creative accounting. Hence Fernandes 18 months deal, and Bergwijn that has a weird payment structure, which was offset by Eriksen deal. Doubt it would of happened had he stayed until the summer.

Because we've had since Llorente left to sign a backup striker.
Because we've had a month since Kane got injured to desperately sign a backup striker.
Of course we failed trying to do it in the last few days and of course the options left were awful.
There's no world class striker who fancied playing in the best stadium in the world and working for the most famous manager in the world?
There's really no defence for how much Levy fucks about trying to get a "deal", pinching pennies but losing pounds.

But dear leader, when the transfer window did shut Poch was our leader who happily had played without Kane up top.

Whilst what you say is not unreasonable, it also misses a fairly fundamental change to our management structure. Yes we should have had a back-up - I’m not disputing that.

But I think a regime change mid-season gives valid reasoning as to why we haven’t committed where perhaps previously we may have done.

Probably because every window we get this long list of players we tried for, but missed out on for a range of rubbish reasons. Paints us as the unluckiest club in the world.

Then we watch Leicester sign them with absolutely no issues 3 days into the summer window.
Weren’t Leicester heavily in for Bergwijn?

Poor choice of club to complain about competition for signings.

Spot on Rob.

It's just flat out boring and predictable the way we can continue to neglect major problem areas, flapping about, rinse and repeat...yawn.
I don’t disagree. We’re always the nearly men - which is fine to a degree. Currently, we’ll never compete in the big boy arena. However, relative to the majority of other teams we’re top tier; pushing against the glass ceiling. That’s why we rinse & repeat

I’ll ask again who do you think we should have got? This is not a video game! Chelsea, ManU, West Ham, even Barcelona all wanted a striker. Who did they get?
Someone that can hold the fucking ball up to suit Jose hoof ball. We got by last season because poch played a system that meant son and Lucas could play as a false 9 and still get the chances to score , as both did . Quick press . Attack on the break at pace.

look at our goals for record over the last 7-8 league games! If we want to be successful under Jose u need a Costa drogba type he has no plan B

Why is it difficult to slag off ‘No striker?!’ The ones offered (aside from Giroud) of late were not do-able in the end. The possible ones like Benteke Mourinho (JM) didn’t fancy. Had we signed Benteke with JM blessings, we would be going off on one. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

And again, up until last night a lot of us thought Giroud was good as done. It wasn’t chavs that stopped it, but Frank. Pissing about with a player’s career like that is not on.
[/QUOTE]

Sorry but I can't agree with that. Of course the chavs manager wasn't going to let a player join a rival when he had no replacement.
To say the ones offered were not doable, why? We can't afford them?? Then tough luck, we are supposed to have a scouting dept to identify players we CAN afford.
And to say a lot of us thought it was done, is that the same people at the club who seem to think we can get players at big discounts every time, are they the same people who thought we could get dybala without realising the reality of image rights and the same people who reportedly went chasing bale without realising the reality of his wages???
Come on, naive at best if true. I am off to shop in Harrods tomorrow with£20 in my pocket, think I will get a new suit.....

So what happens if we carry on with Moura up top and miss out on top 4?
If we continue to hoof the ball up to Moura then it’s almost a certainty. And that was also from a keeper who could kind of kick a ball. We now revert to one that struggles to even keep it on the pitch

Given who we've allegedly enquired about as far as 30 yr old plus strikers go, is there any particular reason why we haven't shown interest in Dries Mertens whose contract expires at the end of the season ?

City have Jesus on the bench.
Chelsea have Giroud and Batshuiyi on the bench.
Arsenal have Lacazette on the bench.
Leicester have Iheanacho on the bench.
Even Wolves have Cutrone on the bench.
We have Troy Parrott (if he makes the bench, which he's apparently not ready to).

The idea that you can't have a decent back-up striker is honestly astonishing.
Wolves don’t have Cutrone. He’s at Fiorentina now.
