Pretty sure I remember an A&C cryptic from my early childhood saying the same...
Something about freeing a prisoner from a wood if I remember rightly.

Why? It's not as if there are loads of cheap English defenders available. We have to he on the look out for the "next big thing" rather than waiting. Think Everton and John Stones.

Well we simply have to if Chiriches is gone.

Kaboul, Jan, Dawson and one of our younger players is no where near the standard we should be aiming for. Chiriches needs to be replaced if he's going as does Dawson.

As far as I can see, he really hasn't said that.

Would be a mistake to get rid of Chiriches just yet - can't see it happening myself. If Paulinho and Soldado deserve a second season, then Chiriches does too. He was prone to a mistake last season, but so was everyone else. Verts fell about more often than Stephen Bambi Gerrard.

Think he can go on to be our own David Luis.

Any ITK about replacing a centre back must be primarily about Dawson. 4 CBs in a squad is bare minimum.
