Back in January 2013 I wrote one of my silly songs based on one of the Beatles hits. A few of you would have missed it so here's it is again for you.

And so that you can sing along, here's the lyrics again……It's called "Can't buy Leandro"

I'll buy you Moutinho my friend if it makes you feel alright
I'll sign us anyone my friend if I lowball them just right
I think I care too much for money, but money don't buy me love

I'll sign Moutinho for you if we can sell a star or two
I may not be that tall my friend but i'll cut a deal for you
I think I care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy Leandro, the eyeteekays tell us so
Can't buy Leandro, no no no, no

Say you don't need no top players and I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want free signings instead then I won't have to lie
I think I care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy players, oh, the ITK's tell us so
Can't buy players, oh, no no no, no

Say you didn't buy no diamond lights oh my god that song was shite
Tell me that I shouldn't have sacked him or was Glenn Hoddle right?
Why the fuck did I hire Santini, cos the money was right

Of course we've got plenty of money, try not to be a fool
I'm telling everyone that we're potless, its a bargaining tool
Just you wait 'till 5 to midnight, then you'll see that i'm cool

Can't buy players
Can't buy players no no no……no

Well...…… @JerryGarcia you sir, are a fucking genius. He actually recorded it and made an mp3 out of it which you can listen to or download here

So when Jerry pops his head back into this thread, please give him spunky amounts of good rep. That is brilliant.

I am pleased with the likely acquisition thought of JR and MS and the subsequent strengthening of THFC, but at the back of my mind as a football fan I am saddened by what is going on at soton. Its like we have watched someone getting a damn good beating in the street by several people (in fact one of em, a scouser, had so much fun 1st time he came back for another couple of goes) and as they are lying there in a stunned, badly damaged state we have sidled over from our watching brief and gone to town on em again looking for a wallet and mobile phone.

Like I said its sad ..... but i'll get over it when lamela and co are smashing 6 or 7 past em in the league.

Someone said earlier (and yes it does seem a bit BSOL, sorry) it makes you realise we ain't all that badly represented regarding the man at the top.

EDIT: Don't wanna be too presumptious

Well, lets not get above ourselves, neither MS or JR are confirmed yet and we don't want another William to happen ;-)

AliZ is going hard on claiming that Lascelles is done. Interesting to see how that turns out since he is basically the only one claiming this right?

I'd be really happy with getting JR and MS! Please make it so!

I agree with that Norvern Monkey, it seems like the complete dismantling of a very good team, eight players out if we buy our two and all of them their top players, it must be awful being a Saints fan right now.
Very pleased with Rodriguez and Schneidelin if it comes off, Rodriguez is a very neat player and, as I've posted before, Saints fans before the game last year said Schneidelin was the real deal, best player there.

I'd be over the moon with MS and a Centre Half coming in.

I'd be fine with Dawson/Sandro leaving as well.

Add in JR - although recovering from a serious injury (always worrying), but would be a very successful summer - slightly weird that the manager is getting his targets.

Neither JR/MS would need much transitioning either, already familiar with Poch and his style of play - would be pretty good, and sets up an exciting start to the season.

Very happy with the proposed news this morning of the possible addition of 2 saints, so have dropped a donation in the pot of two tenners, loving this transfer window on this site, keep up the great work.

Lascelles has been a very long time target. I'm fairly sure that if he moves this summer, it'll be to us

I haven't put this in the RO, but I thought some clarity and further explanation was needed about my post last night.

Firstly, I realise now the info about MS and Jay Rod was a little late, but I was out last night when I had a call and had no acess to internet so couldn't post earlier, but it does seem to confirm other info coming in.

As regards to the CB situation and outgoings, its rather complicated, but in essence We have recieved bids for Dawson, Rose and Naughton and interest for a number of others. Hull's bid for Dawson is still on the table, but they are looking elsewhere and won't wait for ever, will probably be sorted one way or the other in the next couple of days. Daws does not really want to leave and may get another reprieve if we can't bring who Poch wants, same goes for Rose.

Lovren was Poch's first choice followed by H Moreno and Rojo, my source thinks we might still put a bid in for Rojo, but if that is not successful then we might just stick until Moreno has recovered. A loan or two might happen if we can't get who we want. Poch knows he has to let a few go, and will be making those decisions by the time we play Schalke, but its not as simple as some people on here seem to think, players on resonable contracts are not easy to shift especially when they are not the sort to interest the top 6. I ask the question, would you want to go to the mess that is Southampton after playing for Spurs?

My source thinks Verts will be made captain with Hugo as vice. Also said to watch who goes to Helsinki on Friday, those left behind will be a good indication about who will be leaving (apart from those injured obviously). The lads who have been away on tour love Poch and Lamela and Holtby in particular are buzzing about the way he wants to play.

You didn't think Daniel Levy would walk past an unconsious body in the street without checking for a wallet did you. I mean, he even had those kids mug Harry in Madrid.

Cheers @Grey Fox.

Still believe we should strengthen the defence this window but understand the difficulty in getting players out of the Lane when they live in London, are on a decent contract and playing for a top 6 side.

Very good to hear about the reaction to the manager after the Sherwood episode and all the signs are pointing to Lamela having a positive season. Which will be like a new player and our best 'signing' for this season.

Personally I believe Lloris to be the best captain material, but it would be interesting to see whether Verts can start taking the team by the scruff if given the responsibility. If he responds to the captaincy then it could improve his effectiveness in the heart of defence as well.

That's all pretty great news. What you have done is insured a complete meltdown come Friday when we see that some of the players haven't gotten on the plane.

But there does most certainly seem to be a seriously good mood about the squad. They seem happy and content. It looks like a happy camp.

@JerryGarcia

I've been on this site 8 years and read some awesome things, seen some awesome videos and met some awesome people.

But, recording an A&C original is fucking incredible.

Speechless.

Making Verts captain is a great idea. He's the centre piece of our defence so it makes sense, but also, it would be as if Poch insists that his attitude has to be the best of all the players. If he can get Verts head straight then I imagine the rest of the team would follow his lead.

Nah. Dealing with a totally different animal of a club here. Like someone said yesterday, Levy is hugely competent in dealing with the big boys (and sorry, financially and in the Transfer market at least Chelsea are certainly one of those!) but when it comes to dealing with the more modest clubs he's a ****** animal! He'll eat them for breakfast if they start trying to pull fast ones IMO.
