New name just been mentioned to me. A player I know fuck all about, so if anyone knows him please enlighten us.

Luca Marrone

Being recommended by the man who feels Gareth Barry could be a good signing apparently
He must be on a wind up.

Look-a-moron

He'll tell you we're signing Harry Balls, or Hugh-J-Ballacks

This is a loaded post.

I believe you are referring to Baldini.

That would mean Baldini likes Marrone. But that would also mean Baldini likes Barry.

OH THE CONFUSION!

Barry was the key player [] under Baldini + Capello for England for awhile...that's a very interesting tidbit from Ryan!!

OH THE CONFUSION!

Suppose baldini would know Barry quite well from his time with England

So Baldini likes Barry?
A fan of bog standard central midfielders?
You'd never guess he's Italian!

I genuinely would cry if we bought Barry. Surely there should be a test when appointing a DOF, reel off some names and say whether we should sign them, Bernard? Yes...Barry? Yes...get out.

shit just got real: We've potentially a director of fooball who isn't gonna avoid picking the players he and the coach think will make the philosophy work on the pitch. barry is hardly the name we all wanna hear - but looks like (if these are really of interest) Levy has handed over control of transfer policy, baldini is the amiable face on the hard negotiating team.

I am happy

But we don't have a director. We have these shadow whispers that he might join, but it's taken an awfully long time for something that was supposedly wrapped up before he left Roma. I am a bit nervous about the whole thing. I just hope its announced soon so I can sleep better.

Marrone's a technical deep lying playmaker in the Pirlo mould. Recently has been dropped back by Conte into the sweeper role of Juve's 3-5-2 (where Bonucci plays). Great range of passing, but a bit lightweight (especially for his new role in defense) and not quite the finished product, but there's a lot of promise there. I haven't seen a lot of him, but whenever I have, he's generally been good.

Parker out, Barry in would be an odd one in that it seems pointless initially, but Barry's vast experience could actually benefit both the team and young players like Carroll.
I'd also hope that signing Barry would be the defensive concession to the wonderment of attacking riches that was going to come in and start in front of him and Sandro.

For what it's worth here is my opinion of our various ITK links:

Barry - it's not true. We're not getting Gareth Barry. We are not interested in Gareth Barry. Full stop.
Leandro - Idem. We were interested. We're not anymore. I think I read somewhere that "his star has faded" - I think that is true to a large extent and I think that Inter messed up, because he has been found out when defenders have played more attention to him.
Bernard - I think we are in for him. I'm not sure how much of a success he'll be. He smacks of a slightly more motivated Gio Dos Santos - who looked the dogs bollocks from the youtube videos when he was joining us. I have no doubt that Bernard will have a better attitude, because frankly my poo has a better attitude. But does that mean that he'll have the mental and tactically nouse and presence to be a success in the premiership? Most likely not instantly - might take some time.
Villa - I think there is some serious chat behind this, and it could be a good'un. The guy is very very good.

We appreciate you taking the time to speak to us Mr. Baldini. ;)
