Ok if and a big IF...80m for bale!!! When does this stop.
years back it was Carrick, money was to good to turn down.
then we had berb, same shit.
then modric, same shit. Even Keane as well
now with bale, honesty it gets to a point you have to stand firm otherwise it never stops.

he is spurs player for f sake, we couldn't resist the money for those players; what example this setting. What stops it being Pauline in 2 season from now.

the money is great no doubt, lets build a team and make spurs great

I mostly agree, but there is a part of me that completely understands that the club, if offered a World Record fee would simply have to look at it and consider it seriously... 90 million??

I mean, *if* that was invested properly, you could bring in three players that, despite Bale's absence would most likely make us stronger...

*I am fully aware that that is a massive if... like this "if" but, you know, bigger even.

We would need a lot of luck with injury's though, like you I would fancy our best 11 vs United's, but in terms of squad depth they are well ahead at the moment IMO
I don't necessarily agree. Who have they really got as back-up, and compare it with us. I know we hadn't too much strength in depth last year, but if Kaboul, Sandro, Paulinho, Chadli, and Soldado come into the fray, then Dawson, Caulker, Carroll, Siggy, Holtby, and Lennon, isn't a bad bench.

that point is when we consistently offer champ leagues football and can challenge for silverware, i know its a vicious circle but you gotta think what can we offer bale to pick us over real?

they can offer...

a) to play for one of the biggest if not the biggest club in the world

b) better wages

c) every year be in champs league

could list more, all we can offer what they cant is

a) europa league football

lol, i just always think every club no matter how big has had their best player taken away from them by real at somepoint if they wanted to, be it man united, inter, juve even barca.

i personally think now if we get 80 mill and invest it theres no reason why we cant become a better team without bale we wont replace him as a player but could improve as a team, it hasn't stopped united or even the scummers to a extent from reaching their goals still.

on this day 11 years ago we signed jurgen klinsmann, would love a deal for soldado to go through today as i feel he can have the same sort of impact for us as our legendary german friend

Would love it to happen today Smudger, Can't see it tbh. Though it can't be far away! Still remember the Klinsmann factor like it was yesterday and what an attacking line up we had...Shame it was not the same at the back, That was an Horrific mess :( (Ooops didn't mean to post the frown smiley...I know nothing..promise). At least this time we have a more complete team and a Manager that knows his onions, No offence Ossie!

Who cares if JD gets pissed off. Tough titi! You need good cover and JD is not good enough, Remy pretty shit not prolific. A youngster? Fine if we can find one but we've been chasing LD for 4 transfer windows so I'm not optimistic.
Is LD still a youngster? He must be 50 by now (at least, it seems we have been chasing him that long).
I'd go for Lamella. I know he's not a striker - but who cares !!

Our central midfield options are better that theirs, I think they have more depth everywhere else. I dont think a United fan would look at the likes of Carroll, Siggy and Caulker and say "wow, look at the squad depth Spurs have".

I think you'll find it was 1994 for one year and again in 1997 on loan for a year

This soldado deal is dragging way to long for me
What's too long? It's only been a few weeks, and £26 million is no small amount of money. These things take time, and consideration.
In the olden days, before Internet and twitter ( and even TV), we would only hear about a deal when it was announced in the paper. We had no idea how long negotiations had been going on for. Nowadays, we are spoiled by the plethora of instant information sources - many of them wrong.
Restez calme.

I do agree. But it is not always about the player. We, as a club, also need Bale in order to reach the next level; CL/Trophies.

I believe that had Man UTD sold Ronaldo a year earlier, Fergie and his reign would have fallen a lot earlier.

Ronaldo enabled UTD to compensate, adequately, for his pending departure. Bale can do the same for us, surely?

Yeah, but who have they got?

Every situation is different though, let alone different Club's circumstances.

Its all about timing. If Levy thinks its best to keep him for another year, hopefully getting into the CL, and then deciding to cash in for mega money than happy days as far as I'm concerned.

Its not just about what Bale and Madrid want, its about what we want, and we retain the upper hand in all this given he's three years remaining on his contract.

Levy will weigh it up, and that's if there is even a semi acceptable bid on the table, and do what he believes is best for the Club overall.

Think people need to relax with the Soldado deal. All the ITK and media seems to be positive on this happening, POTL generally is pretty reliable. Remember we are significantly breaking our record transfer, of course Levy is going to be negotiating hard and being careful with this one.

What do you do though? cant keep a unhappy player and expect them to perform at their best. Berba and modric went on strike and when we didn't let modric go he played at 80%

C'mon mate, they've just won the league, we finished 5th. Yes we've made a few signings, but they have signed Zaha(amazing talent imo), do I really have to list all their players?
No. Not their main players. It's the in-depth bit, I might dispute.

Currently Levy sits in his lair, finger hoovering over the big red "Transfer Funds" Button..... Sweating like Eric Pickles in a cake factory.
