It seems to me that we were all getting along fine until the Leandro "we are / we are not" tweet kerrfuddle late last week.

Since then everyone, including me - and the maths ninja :ninja:, has been a bit too free to jump on their fellow yiddo's for the slightest indiscretion.

I love you all, to varying degrees, and hope we all get what we want as a belated xmas gift from Mr Levy. (y)

8 assists is a hell of a lot for a DM.
Yep, like I posted in the Holtby thread when it was announced, not been this excited about a signing since VDV.

He will be one of our best and most influential players by the end of next season. (assuming we sign a striker who knows how make a run and not stand still)

Holtby isn't a DM but he could play CM in a middle 3. Wish I never mentioned it. Everyone is on the blob it seems. The only reason I did is that we've already agreed a deal for him in the summer, it would be swift, easy and cheap to sort out quickly. Not because he is a Sandro replacement. I also mentioned it because I've been through far too many windows with this club to think that DL suddenly hops straight onto the CM/DM bandwagon. Not when he's just called off the Livermore deal, Moutinho is available for about twice as much as DL is comfortable with, clubs seem to be running away screaming from Jenas, Bentley and Hudd for the 5th window in succession and we still haven't even signed a cocking striker.

Time to deal in reality people. We're going to end up with lemons. AVB is going to have to make lemonade.

So in that scenario, I wouldn't sniff at Holtby being brought in early.

Fuck.

All hush hush me thinks. The club probably monitors the more main-stream message boards I would imagine.

They definitely do, I know that for a fact. I think we keep all the sensitive info under wraps which is why we hear about all the players that do not sign. Would be madness to show your hand during negotiations, its the agents that benefit from punting gossip.

There's no chance of Holtby playing as a DM, but the reason I mentioned the bit about him playing there earlier in his career was because it adds another string to his bow. Modric could help out with a tackle or two and it really helped our abilities to win the ball back, and it's possible he could add that in addition to his creative passing.

In all honesty if Parker got injured I could see Dembele dropping further back, and Holtby (if he joins early) playing alongside him. Neither would be DMs, but both would have enough about them to still stifle the opposition.

Indeed. We're not dealing in best case scenarios here. We're talking worse case scenarios. And that scenario is infinitely preferable to a middle of Livermore and Hudd. *shudder*

I agree those ITK probably share their source's info behind their backs as the Source would not want any sensitive info they have shared to become public knowledge. But then surely if the ITK does share such info on a site like this, it will be pretty obvious to the original source upon reading the info (either on a forum, or in the papers if the info is picked up on by the press) that the person they shared their info with has betrayed their trust. So in the end it comes down to 1) why would the original source leak info that could potentially be traced back to them, and 2) why would an ITK share info that could potentially be seen by their source - who will then no longer trust them with future information.

Sorry, again not in any way trying to have a go at ITK's etc. in the slightest. I love all the info they provide us with. Just been thinking about the ITK chain of events and trying to work out the risks that an ITK and his source takes when such info is passed on to us - especially when it comes down to very sensitive information. Perhaps the answer is any ITK info we get is never really that sensitive, and all truly sensitive info in fact never reaches us (or at best is given to us in cryptics so as to help protect the source more). Or perhaps some people just take the risk! (y)
