JJ just replied to me on Twitter basically saying Mourinho doesn't want a DM lmfao.

We know that. He’s said he’s going to play Ndombele there this season, he’s just waiting for him to get fit.

Glad JJ is so confident on a striker though, especially as he’s lived through deadline days like the Balde one relatively recently and therefore this one must be closer than that was, else he wouldn’t say anything.

Weird.

Goes against EVERYTHING Jose has done before.
Unless he thinks there's a player already in the squad who can play the role. Personally I think it'd be a waste to play Ndombele at the base of midfield but if I'm not mistaken he played some minutes there before aggravating his injury, and there's also the possibility that he might play Gedson there. I agree it's bizarre, just as it was that Poch didn't make it a priority, but let's see how it plays out.

I like Dragon1’s Bale ITK. That he is still being mentioned, he could still be an option. The question is how much of a financial punt does the bald one want to make..?

Even if we make a financial punt like that ( which is highly unlikely) it’s not just about us. Bale will need to take a significant pay cut ( not just to come to us, but most teams). Something it seems pretty clear to me he isn’t prepared to do.

How does the man who pioneered the “Makelele position” look at our team and say nah doesn’t need a defensive midfielder.
Either he's truly changed his style entirely, he thinks he's got a solution already, or he's got targets in mind that are not attainable in January and wants to keep his powder dry.

I think we desperately need one but can see the argument that if the right target isn't available it'd be best to wait. I'd be sorely disappointed if it isn't addressed in the summer, though.

Presumably he’d rather wait until he can bring in one he wants, which is hard to do in January.

Either that or he wants to give Tanguy a good run there.

I’m sure he wants his cut of any deal, but as far as I can see a permanent transfer to another team sees him get paid. Regardless of what wages Bale ends up earning.

I find it hard to believe Bale is being forced to stay at Madrid because Barnett won’t allow him to take a pay cut.

Considering Skipp and Wanyama trained today which indicated that their departures aren’t imminent and the lack of quality ones that are feasible it makes sense to ride the season out best we can then address it properly in the summer.

I think the word you're looking for is "advised", rather than "forced".
