under £100m, worlds most complete number 9, 3 year contract at the time. Some of the rumours/media stories at the start were £170-180m where as Levy wanted £200m apparently. Then the bids came from City around £100m, it looked crazy at the time and unworkable.

However it doesn’t only reflect badly on Charlie, also makes City looks foolish, imagine believing Levy would sell Kane massively cheap.
Charlie sold them the “gentlemen’s agreement” line and they bought it, bizarrely.t
As much as I'd like this to happen, that would require a record breaking numbers of outs. Even if Levy has changed his outlook on how we need to operate I just can't see us shifting 15 plus players
True. but lloris and winks both as good as gone already and there will be decent loan market for quite a few of the others at the very worst.

I think the numbers of outgoings could quickly shoot up once we really get going if Levy is half way sensible on Valuations and I really do think he might be this time around.

agents like Base love outgoings as well as they can get paid at both ends a lot more easily if Levy gives them a mandate.

All this before Ange has even assessed any of them on the training pitch? There were obvious areas we needed to fill and we've clearly moved early for those, but I can't see we've already decided on the fringe players or full backs in or out without Ange even looking at them.
Then are some he doesn’t need to assess on the training pitch - the four I’ve identified.
As I say, the midfielders and full backs are the ones who he will give a chance to. Which is why I struggle to get the number up to 5 (7 in total) at this moment in time.

Regarding maddison I am incredibly surprised as we passed last summer for 50 million , it was the same time Daniel failed to persuade conte to take eriksen back who wanted to come so maybe a manager change led to this

as I said earlier in window there are going to be multiple signings in the 15-20 million range , one of main reasons we went for Angie is he can spot talent , young players with high ceilings and who are mobile , you will see us covering high amounts of ground again this season just like under peak Poch 17 and 18 seasons with multiple subs on 60-65 mins as players run into ground so despite no Europe we will need big squad , players who can’t move like holberg , dier etc will be off

as is well documented we are in advanced talks with leverkusen he fits model perfectly , young , mobile with high ceiling

they want another 5 after the keeper and maddison ,
Desperately hoping that

“players who can’t move like Hoijberg, Dier etc will be off”

should be -

“players who can’t move, like Hoijberg, Dier etc will be off”

Pinning my hopes on a dropped comma…

Yeah to get anywhere near this we need to be considering contract cancellations for a few that we can’t shift. People like Perisic, Rodon, etc

Would be wild but not sure how realistic it is
There’s no need to cancel contracts (which requires paying players off). Just allowing free transfer is sufficient. And even that is overkill for the likes of Rodon who have clear value.

I disagree, any moves people can make in free transfers will probably leave those players at a delta for their wages. That will probably mean we need to consider it.

I guess it's possible we've had a few fringe players already state their preference to move on. Could see the likes of Lloris, Perisic, Sanchez, Lo Celso, Rodon, Gil, Reguilon in that situation. Obviously Lucas, Danjuma and Lenglet (for now) have already left the squad too.

Rodon’s wages as an example, are not prohibitive by any means. Simply no way we even consider paying off his contract. No club would.

A big clear out is possible. But doubt it will happen. Looking at the outs so far.
Hugo going,
winks going
Moura gone
Lenglet loan over
Danjuma loan over
Sanchez accepting time is up

So thats 5 spots already freed up from squad. We've filled 2 of this spots. So leaves 3 spots.
Just have to hope perisic agrees to a termination and we get some interest in tanganga sess and some of our returning outcasts. D1 previous ITK stated we wanted 3 Defenders so 5 could be true.

You just simply don’t know that. There is a high chance his wages with us will be high for a player of his quality and that’s the issue

I do agree - although part of me also thinks there has to be at least 7/8 players that don’t need assessing - it’s so bloody obvious they need a change! Maybe no assessing is needed for a good few 👍

D1 is almost always anti-Levy and negative with his updates so this is some extremely exciting news. Have to be happy with the noises coming from the club right now.

Sounds promising, but we've always had issues selling fringe players on. Hopefully it's different this time.

Im sorry, and appreciate the Info. There is NO chance we sigh another 5 after Maddison. Would gladly be proved wrong however.

this feels positive but to really feel like a new start/new era we will need to sign a CB or two...

They might want another five, but that seems like a target over the next two windows (by which I mean this one and winter). As others have said, I cannot see us managing to do that unless we sell a few. We can't do a Chelsea, we all saw how that went for the coaches.

Think Maddison will be a better player than Eriksen, moving forward. Probably for the best
