That's great wanting to sign sub 15m players however don't we need a DOF or an equivalent title to help do that?! Which one of our current geniuses at board level are going to picking these gems?!

We did some early business last year tbf. Perisic was super early and Bissouma was in by mid-June.

But yeah I agree we could really do with getting in our keeper and first choice LCB in for pre-season as those are probably the biggest holes in the first 11 atm. If we leave key signings until late in the window and they miss out on Ange's pre-season then the slow start he's known for will be even slower.
Forgot about them players being so early.
I do think like you said any new signings need in early as it will take time for the players to get used to a total change of style.
I be happy getting in the important positions goalie and CB in quickly, then seeing how the land lies for other positions.

Yeah doesn‘t really pass the sniff test. Unless we massively front loaded it with a huge signing on fee, or he’s got tonnes of bonuses to make up the difference.

Really wish we could be pro active gor a change and sign players early. Quite a few teams dignings players already.
Yet more than likely Levy will leave it till towards the end of the window to save on wages meaning we could miss out on players like Ndicka and probably Maddison.
Like last season you mean?

Surely we’ll be spending more than £15 million on a centre back, hopefully 2.

Im hoping Dragon’s information is wrong.
I’d be amazed if we managed to sign all 3 of Raya, Laporte and Maddison.

That is depressing if true, what a waste of money, if there was ever an argument managers shouldn't just be 'backed' thats it right in front of your eyes

If we brought those 3 in and supplemented that with some youth, that would be a really, really good window.

The thing that worries me is United are heavily linked with Raya and Newcastle heavily linked with Maddison, meaning we can't take loads of time haggling the price down or else we'll miss out completely. We need to be decisive if those are Ange's main targets, and historically, we've not been.
But if the player has a preference for a club, the club probably knows and will try and get the price lower

Assumed it was a typo i.e 160 not 60. £60 k wouldn't even make sense if we gave him a signing on bonus of say £5m, and then paid him £60k a week instead of £!60k ish per week.... why would we do it that way?

Also missed of Sons wages didn't he ? Pretty sure Son would be £200k ish given that he'd be a very attractive target for plenty of clubs yet we've never had a problem with him.

He's exactly what we need at LCB. He reminds me of Vertonghen so much. Yes please.
Theate and Laporte would be huge signings if they come off. Really hope we can complete these.

Add a good goalkeeper and AM that itk confirmed are also priorities and it is a good start to our rebuild.

Not a title winning team by any stretch, but one that should at least compete for the top 4 or 5 again. Addressing these weaknesses won't only improve these positions, but hopefully see the likes of Son and Bissouma play to their potential again. A more reliable defence will help us push forward much better.

I have no inside information, but we may have covenants on our loans that restrict our salaries as a percentage of turnover, which would make this kind of arrangement more attractive?
