If we get that done early, then that would be brilliant and I hope as fans, if we ended up getting it done early, that it doesn't leave the expectation of more and feeling disappointed when nothing else happens. Those signings would be a superb window to kickstart a project with hopefully a smaller squad. I must admit I'd love the addition of Hatate too though
It would be nice not to have the end of window meltdowns and stress for once

Good to see us moving quickly. If we could pull off Laporte and maddison I’d be very happy. 2 prem proven, experienced players. A fully fit and firing midfield of bents biss and maddison would be epic.
good to see us thinking about things quickly...ha, there's no moving until it's done and we've seen that transfers like Maddison's or Raya's even if they want us and its all done on a personal level can take 2 months between clubs.

I get the feeling that Ange could be the type to demand that we move on from players if things are taking too long.

He will want players and working in his way as soon as possible.

Anyone who seems too uncertain about joining or looks like they are waiting for better offers, he will not want anyway.

The interesting thing will be if a player wants to come and it is Daniel who causes the delay because he thinks he can a better deal if he waits longer.

The key really is in the timing. We sort our business early and before pre-season, then next season can start on a positive foot. If we delay, delay, and delay as usual, then expect fan patience with Ange (right or wrong) to be short.

With Levy seemingly fully in charge of transfers right now I have no optimism that is going to happen.

And the ITK/news that we will be operating on a one in one out type of situation is another thing that will cause significant delays.

Trix said as much in his “reality of no European football” thread. Though it came across as informed opinion rather than direct information.

It’s also just purely mathematical, our squad size is too big but this isn’t the thread for that kind of tangent. Just putting it here to show what Trix said is backed by numbers too. He did say that we would get a GK and CB in and then the rest depends on outs so very similar line of thinking.

Squads so big and poorly constructed it will take time and a few windows to sort. We need a gk that won’t be dependant on others - the cb and am situ though I worry it will take a while longer. Hope I’m wrong but realistically we’ve been here before

I’m intrigued by the names being mentioned but I won’t get excited by the state of the squad until we start seeing those surplus to requirements go out of the door of this bloated dressing room. It’s all addition by subtraction right now. Postecoglu’s “We never stop” ethos has to be plastered all over the exit doors right now like an “everything must go” bargain barn fire sale

My main hope, beyond the obvious stuff like getting a keeper and better CBs, is that Ange wants to, and can, make good use of Udogie, Porro and Spence.

If we switch to a system where these players are made redundant it's truly an absolutely colossal fuck up by Levy and waste of time, talent and money. And also so deeply predictable as many of us were joking about this exact thing 6 months ago.

Thankfully all three are young and moldable

True - will be interesting to see how Ange approaches the puzzle. Does he stick with his tried and true 4-3-3 which doesn't especially suit our squad (and molds players like you say) or does he try something new?

Ndicka on a free (as the young CB on top of Laporte) would be fantastic, as he can cover both LCB and LB.
It very much looks like he's heading to Roma. Not that I'm doubting our crack recruiting team of Levy, our DOF (don't have one), Munn (hasn't started yet) and Ange (hasn't started yet)...ah nevermind.
