I'm told this has come from COYS just now.......

From prof...

First time that DL has backed a manager against senior players. We're in terra incognita here.

This has had a very positive impact on MP and the squad. Training has been much improved as those who weren't putting in the effort are now doing so, as they know they do not have support from anyone in the leadership hierarchy. MP has promised his players that if they give him 100%, the team will have success.

Since the events of last week Lennon has been working hard. He doesn't want to leave. He wants to prove he is worth keeping.

DL very bluntly told Adebayor that he's had enough of his negative influence, and if he doesn't support MPs vision then he'll be treated the same way as BAE. This has rattled Adebayor as he'd come to think of himself as untouchable.

MP is significantly impressed with the skills and the attitude of some of our U21 players and is looking for opportunities to move them into the first team squad, which would allow promotion of talented youth team players to the U21s. This plan depends on moving on some unwanted players in the January window. If we can't then he'd prefer they were playing regularly for the U21 and youth teams than being too far down the pecking order in the first team squad.
wonderful news!

Hmmm... All sounds a bit happy families for Spurs. Thanks for passing on, whatever the case.

Sounds awfully convenient, given the utter turmoil of just s couple of days ago.

Either being dropped and told off has terrified the rebels into instant compliance, or things weren't (and aren't) as previously reported.

I don't know what to believe, but this turnaround from apocalyptic disaster club to hippy drum circle peace commune in three days? Not sure I buy that.

The people who put this stuff out there clearly do it for a reason, as others have rightly said. But they're not actually very aware of the inferences that could be drawn.

My first reaction to the opening line was why hasn't Levy backed previous managers then? He's hired enough of them, and presided over choices of player, some of whom, like Ade, had long established reputations as disruptive personalities. Given what AVB did at Chelsea, and Ades nature, it looks like appalling judgement to bring those two together in the first place.

It's nice to have a positive dressing room, and a good vibe on the training ground where those who perform feel they have a chance of selection. But what really matters to me is the coach selects the players who produce the goods, and drops the players who don't. Sundays team selection was brave, and one way or another the business was done, and now I hope this will give Poch courage to elbow Kaboul and Capoue at least on to the Europa League sidelines.

I really hope Jan is another who has responded to the ultimatum to work harder, and in spite of a few injuries we can put out a good team tonight, get through and then look forward to Sunday. Coys.

Apart from some absentees, we still got served up the same level of dross against Hull. Same shit, different day. All these stories just seem like attempts to hide the obvious fact that we're not currently making any progress.

It's a bit like trying to defend someone's poor performance at work to your boss by saying they're under loads of stress and will be taking a few days off, only to later say that they've decided to battle through it 'for the good of the company'. Your ineffectual colleague rolls up on Monday morning none the wiser, but the boss might be inclined to be more lenient on them despite nothing of any note having taken place at all.

Agreed, but at least they were clearly trying in the second half. Soldado for example missed a sitter but showed more desire than Ade has in recent performances, something the fans can get behind. It's poor but not boo of the pitch at half time poor, which is a silver lining to a pretty dark cloud.

This is the gold.

Oh, and according to Update 9, Ade and Lennon couldn't care less whether they play or not. Why, then, is Ade rattled? Why is Lennon suddenly keen to prove himself? We have the reference to 'the events of last week', presumably the dressing-room bust-up, but that was over a fortnight ago.
.

Well, If I were Lennon, I would seriously ask the question - "Is Townsend better than me ? Even though Lamela is given chances, is he taking those chances ?"

For both question, answer is no. So, If I were Lennon, I would rather try hardest to convince Poch than to try & move to Hull City.

But then, I am not Lennon.

So now Prof has okayed two contradictory items of ITK, the first of which contained, in addition to the dressing-room ruck revelations, information which had been lifted from previous ITK and media reports, including an article from last Saturday's Telegraph. JJ has heard nothing of any such bust-up. We're now presented with this.

The last two sentences of the final paragraph don't really make sense.

Seems very much like someone's agenda to me.

If Lennon has realised he was wrong to support Adebayor and is now working hard in training, and Kaboul has cleared the air with Pochettino, that leaves Adebayor exposed on his own. He appears to have been told in no uncertain terms by Levy his place in the scheme of things and he could therefore expect to be 'rattled'. No ?

There are agendas and bias to all things, what really matters is what happens on the pitch.

If performances improve then those who want to believe the info we've been given can put it down to that, others who don't can come up with plenty of alternative reasons. None of us will ever really know, probably.

It is fun to read about the soap opera though. :woot:

If this is genuinely the first time the brass have supported a manager/head coach over players, then there's no wonder why we've been going backwards the last couple of years. Jebus Christ.

How common is it for a chairman in general or DL in particular to have meetings or that kind of communication directly with the players? I would think there'd be a couple of instances before that happens but then I'm only comparing to other company hierarchy and chain of command procedure so might work differently in a football club. Anyone actually know? Would it be a face to face meeting? Through agents? An email?

Yep, that's what jumped out at me too. It's great that the penny may finally have dropped but...way to undermine your coaches Daniel.

Yep, agree with almost all of that - except that I thought apart from a 15 minute spell in the first half, we were actually alright against Hull, and were by far the better team in the second period, even before the sending off. Not sure that means signs of progress as such, but we were certainly better than we've been recently.

Sounds like great news, but heard this so many times. 'DL really really going to back the manager this time etc'. I'll believe it when I see some significant signings in January.
