So many great bits of ITK at the moment, thanks to those providing it.

The thing with signing Bale apart from the financials is the message it screams to the rest of the PL about our ambitions as a club. It says we are no longer prepared to be a team that finishes second, we want more.

for that reason alone I’d love to see it happen.

i don’t know much about most of the strikers listed so can’t really comment except to say I hope we get one who Jose is happy with who can do the job we need him to do.

I appreciate what you’re saying and I would love us to sign Bale. Sponsorship, investment, naming rights etc are all wonderful sources of additional income and can really push a club on to a whole new level. The key thing for me is Levy would be risking the financial stability of the club on ‘ifs’ and ‘potential’ future income. We’ve yet to secure naming rights for the club... what is an appropriate timescale for getting this sorted etc? As I said, as much as I would love us to sign Bale the pendulum in terms of risk against financial security is heavily in the high risk category. We need all of our stars to align for this to happen and based on the current climate that’s clutching at straws.
I´m pretty sure we´re not changing our name to Amazon Hotspur.

Nice to see you in this thread @mawspurs ...
always felt you got the raw end - no pun intended - of the staff deal: ransacking media outlets for spurs stories... although I like the thread, it’s often overlooked; and folk fail to spot the stories you’ve already pinned and merrily ping the link in players threads ??

Dragon:

Carlos Vinicius is definitely An option And we have an interest , due to Mendez involvement there is a high chance he ends up at us or wolves
if it’s wolves then more chance it releases Jimenez to us
whilst we are talking to 4 or 5 strikers now and Trying to get one in at no point has deeney or the Zambian boy been mentioned

my personal feeling is it will be the 22 year old I’ve mentioned many times or Vinicius , or if Vinicius goes wolves then will get Jimenez , I’d say josh king is 4th in line now

it’s always interesting to hear different ITK’s perspectives on different deals as there’s so many plates spinning at the moment.

I agree, it's the main reason I prowl these threads. I'm more interested in hearing the nuances around deals than hyping myself up thinking we are signing someone, at least that's what I tell myself.

Nothing against Vinicius but I'd rather Wolves get him so that we can buy Jimenez.

I'm probably in a minority of 1 but I can't help thinking signing Bale has the potential to be a hugely expensive cock up. He's hardly kicked a ball in ages and I thought his recent outing for Wales was pretty rank.

No you're not! He won't be the player that left us that's for sure.

It’s really tough to call, objectively speaking.

Serial winner with a point to prove returns to the club that was significant in launching his stellar career, or ageing, injury prone has been who’s fallen out of love with the game. These are obviously binary points on a potential axis but football on the whole tends to be banal with the odd scattering of romantic brilliance. The financials are probably the most scary factor in this scenario

I mean this makes sense, he doesn't quite look the Bale we fondly remember & christ it'll be an expensive deal......and yet i honestly don't care 'cos if we sign him then we clearly can afford it (it's Levy after all) and the feelgood factor it would bring to supporters at a pretty shitty time in all our lives would be worth every penny.

Just a thought but with Mendes's involvement with the two players, it would make far more financial sense for him to try and get both Jimenez and Vinicius to move, which could really play in our favor?

But that's a debate for another thread.....

That is a healthy perspective. You might end up being the only sane person on here![/QUOTE]

As much as the bale news is exciting do wonder if we could not take what sound like obscene amounts and be investing in the next generation of talent especially given his age , reliance on explosive pace combined with lovely technique and patchy injury record - and that’s before our medical team have got to work on him!

would be worth the cash just to be able to sing Bale Bale Bale and He Was born to play spurs a couple of times more to be fair

ref bale he isn't the same player. better in some ways worse in others but you aren't buying him to play 90 against the relegation zone. Once he is in playing shape, you rotate him like the rest of the squad should be and should have been. The squads flexibility becomes a marchup nightmare in planning plus you convince Harry et al we are playing for keeps still high risk/reward ratio but the bale from RM offers something different than the Bale of Spurs, especially "presence "
