He was presumably on their list of long-term targets, but they didn't enquire/make a bid until we'd agreed a deal for him, and it was all over the press.

I'm not blaming stuff posted online for that, per se, but I'm just saying that if the journos hadn't got a hold of it then MAYBE we would've signed him.

Sorry Reb, massive respect to you, but that's 110% horse.

You only have to know (and I'm 300% certain you do) who Oscar's agent was to know why that deal went to Chelsea.

Yeah, i'm sure someone confirmed this. Guess they didn't trust RDM to choose his own signings? Am assuming that Mourinho does have that power, although probably wouldn't put it past him to buy a player just to spite us...

Personally I think Abramovic bought all the players we could have replaced Modric with because we tipped him hollocks when he tried to buy him.

I think all this talk about us signing Bernie is getting people too excited. It reeks of another Arshavin/Isco/Moutinho fiasco. Everyone gets their hopes up when he eventually signs for some Russian club or another, sales of Prozac will soar.

Top post Rebrab. Sometimes people need to think about the benefits to the club of keeping stuff hush. Lets not forget that one of, if not, our top signing in recent years had zero info until the day he signed. Lets not be giddy and talk about players where it is public knowledge ala Villa instead

Clint Dempsey? :cautious:

So this Bernard chap, he's decent then I take it?

Last time I looked, Dortmund were sniffing round as a possible Götze replacement so if he's anything like him then he could be an absolutely blinding addition - give or take the eventual first season lull.

I remember seeing a Brazil-based journo say that he 'makes Oscar look like a carthorse' so he's presumably pretty awesome...

Have to agree. How many times have we been here before? The bigger fish will circle and wait until we show our hand. Would be surprised but equally delighted if it did happen.

Or a very bad portrait artist.
Usually a funny rating would be enough, but this one was exemplary. I can't stop chuckling.

If he hasn't signed at the end of next week I would say it is pretty unlikely. Someone else will get involved and it will either be over or he or the club will decide to drag it out to see what other interest is about.

PS: this isn't a dig at anyone here sharing the info, or this thread (the best one on any website ever, IMO), its just something I thought ought to be said considering. Sorry to be boring!

Its why we prefer is people only pass on information if and when they can and not pressured in to giving information

Mods: can we take it that if we get ITK from another forum TFC for example it's because we have a reciprical agreement that their standards match ours.

We dont (to my knowledge) have any contact with other sites. and its their sites reputation that will suffer as we have seen in the past if people make things up.

MODS:

I'd like an answer to that too. I've tried to look at the cobras history and can't find any from previous windows but know I've read some. Can anyone find any so I can put him into my unofficial pinch of saltness rankings?

&! what a shocking name! Why not just call yourself one eyed python and have done with it?!!!

Oh thank Beelzebub and all his little goblins! I accidentally clicked on the Bernard thread and saw loads of photos, twitter and videos and thinking I was actually in this thread pretty much had a heart attack. I was panting so hard the mrs had to come to the office and check I wasn't banging some flossy or another.

I did the same earlier today...

Usually yes,but if we're really committing to 20m then the big fish just might not bother beating that price. It's a risk, however you look at it. Chelsea and city are well stocked in Bernard's position, PSG have Moura and lavezzi, Monaco seem to be buying established talent only, which leaves very few big money clubs...
