"Bare Bones"..................Dembele, Verts, Dempsey, Holtby,Lloris. How many more players need to be brought in before you drop that bullshit?.

Did Hoddle leaving for Monaco really have this much on an effect on you?

ALL new and ALL had to get used to new surroundings etc etc. Same can't be said of the players that were lost at the end of last season?

Had he been able to amass as many points as we achieved this season, with VDV & king & Modric, he'd have finished 3rd!!

Won it more like, undefeated. Feeling better? .............plenty of if's and but's and maybe's.

There was a lot of reports that came out over the last few weeks mentioning that bale HAD signed a new contract with us, but this has since gone quiet....

Could this be a management ploy where we announce the new DOF and then damiao and bale sign!!?

It would be some good management from levy as it would indicate that the new DOF had something to do with it and any initial doubters out there regarding the DOF and his purpose ect would be gone.

Now this post has optimistic rating written all over it haha
but there's not optimistic rating anymore!

What just like Man Citeh have just done?......................................:bag:

City regularly spend 30 million plus. They did so when they were chasing CL and when they were chasing the title. Not in the same bracket as us and probably never will be.

End of the day, when West Ham are bidding 14.5 million for a player, and our record transfer is still only 16 million, it says alot.

I love it when people argue with themselves. This is the classic straw man approach - create what you believe to be the other person's point and argue against that.

What allatsea meant was that he did it without our 3 absolute world-class, could-get-into-any-team players (should have also mentioned losing our number 1 defender, and only threat from corners, for an entire season as well as our beast midfielder for most).

Are you going to try to state that other than lloris, any of the players brought in were a step-up in quality from those three?

There was no mention of bare bones! You can't put quotation marks around something that isn't a quote!

Record points and same old Thursday night shite. Record points is the new fifth place. Did you not notice that?

Of course, the holy trinity that is CL football. because that is ALL that matters in the eyes of today's supporters, isn't it? I'm not arguing with you fella, there's no need & no point. You feel that finishing 4th is the same as being successful, fair play. Personally, I'd say a record points haul is a blatantly clear demonstration of an unbelievable season. Have we achieved 72 points in the PL before, EVER? The answer to that is NO..

So as much as you personally feel that we didn't do as well as previously, just because we didn't finish 4th, I personally feel we did better than previously, because we amassed more points than we have ever achieved in the history of the Premier League. Just to point something else out as well, 4th, 5th or 20th, you still 'win' NOTHING.

This perception that CL football is the measure of how successful you are = Exactly what is killing football. Maybe it's just a differing opinion about what 'sport' is? All I know for sure is, 2nd is the first loser.

The current manager of THFC has achieved more points than any other since the competition began, sorry that wasn't good enough for you. It's only a few seasons ago that such an amount of points would have got us a 2nd place finish, would that have been acceptable for you? I guess so, because it would have got us in to the CL. Would still only have been 72 points though, just as it was this season. Like it or not, AVB exceeded what the last manager, and all the others before him, were capable of.

Isn't Arsenal's record fee still the £13million for Wiltord?

Fuck me it's STILL going on!

I guess the next subtle hint will have to include a large dildo, a well greased buttplug, a latex Alfred E Neuman mask and several polaroids of your mums in compromising positions.

As much as I don't agree with the way Gaz Gammon is trying to get his point across, I don't think the record points thing really makes a difference either. You only needed 42 to finish 12th, that for me just shows how pony the league was this year. That hasn't happened for 4 or 5 years.

Personally I'm glad we're seeing clubs spend money, if the quality of football is better then I'm all for it, and if more teams come to try and attack us when we play them, I'm all for that too.

A&C, in my defence, my point was NOT about 'AVB v Redknapp'. I was pointing out that, when it comes to a 'sporting' point of view, our current manager is our most successful because he accrued more points than any other manager before him. Not much more anyone else can do for a club of our size, with our chances of winning the league. Feel free to delete my post. I was simply standing up for our manager, just as i do for our owner when somebody slags him off too.
