I'm still reeling from this news - the idea that we could add Zaniolo or Paqueta, on top of everything else, is (let's be honest) mental.

I mean if we got one of them it would represent the best window we've ever had, IMO. If that ends up being true it would be genuinely extraordinary.

Crazy. Fingers massively crossed

My guess is that Chelsea's interest in Fofana has put a stop to Maddison, hopefully that's one we can revisit next season.

I'd be happy with either Paqueta or Zaniolo, both would really add to our attacking options. I can see Conte's preference for the latter as he looks like ideal competition for Kulusevski giving us great depth in the attacking areas.
Depth is key this year - we’ve always struggled a bit when players fatigue or pick up injuries as squad players who have come in have been way below the level required. Look at the cup games last year or conference league games where the 2nd string were so poor. With the squad we are building now we should be able to cope better with injuries and rotate players without dropping our level

If all this is true I couldn’t be happier with our transfer business at this point. Makes a complete change from the shambles of the past in the transfer windows.

Whether this happens or not a massive kudos to the ITK's who said Conte would be backed and they were bloody well right, so thanks to all of them for passing on their information.

I'm kinda hoping Zaniolo fails now as I don't rate him. Not that I'm a massive fan of Paqueta either.
Both pose a significant risk but the latter is IMO more in line with the player profile I'd personally like to see.

In the end, it's Conte's choice and he deserves to be trusted.

Well look at us choosing whether we want Zaniolo or Paqueta!
Now tell me the wheel of football fortune isn't turning our way.

With Rodon and Tanganga seeming close to the exit, suspect we will see another CB incoming fairly soon. Squad space cleared (as suggested), need to bring the depth back to the right level.

Paqueta is close if Zaniolo Fails. Maddison no longer. That is as of yesterday.

Jesus H Christ.

Many thanks for the update Hercs, and if either one comes off this will be a masterstroke by Paratici.

What a time to be a Spurs fan, and an insomniac.

Oh man, now I kinda want Zaniolo to fail. Not because I don’t like him, I just rate Paqueta.

Herc: "Paqueta is close if Zaniolo Fails"

Sounds like a Paqueta is the secondary option, but i totally agree with you on this one. The end of the day it's win, win situation for us.

Great ITK going into the last week before the season starts.

Prof on Coys has given a mini update on a couple of things. Thought it was worth posting over.

Regarding wanting another centre back.

a) In fact, we would very much like another CB if we can sign a good quality one during this window. However, we are prepared to wait until next year rather than purchase a player who isn't a step up from what we currently have, with the caveat that if we're able to acquire a young CB with high potential we'd obviously go for it.

In response to selling players

b) Correct. We have set prices for all the players deemed expendable, most (though not all) of which are not exorbitant. We've been approached by a variety of clubs for a number of those players and in each case we've told them the price. The prevailing sentiment is that as the transfer deadline gets closer, and other selling teams hike their prices, buying teams are more likely to pay up rather than risk losing the player to another team. Having said that, it's a balance between getting a good price for outgoings and wanting/needing to sell players (especially non-HG) beforehand. We're open to sending players on loan, but only if they can't be sold. Time will tell whether our strategy for managing outgoings hasbeen effective.

My first ever bit of ITK:

I have it on good authority that Conte himself will be present to watch Zaniolo play for Roma this evening. Doesn't mean the deal is done but he's flown over for the game. This will be reported in the media shortly...

This ties in with the Dragon ITK also on COYS from the 18 July which says something similar regarding defenders

we need to move some bodies out before things get going again on incomings , its surprised me as conte passed on eriksen but he does like maddison , leis are not sellers currently

once gio, rodon , winks go we have offers on all but not at right levels yet I expect more signings as I have said I expect one big defensive signing , I think they will test leist resolve on maddison towards end of window

So it sounds like we do ideally want to tie up some sales/loans soon with Rodon this week. We seem to have been in talks with clubs for GLC for most of the summer, so if he follows Rodon out the door this week then maybe we will make some moves.

Seen people saying we are not interested in maddison we are conte wants him his stats are superb And he gives us something we do not have right now

reality is this we need to shift some if not all of gio , winks and regulion before we go again in the market , Tanguy will be lucky to get off the wage bill
maddison will be 50 mill plus signing it’s not just fees , club feel wage bill needs trimming before we spend again , Tanguy and gio both on big money

dragon1 said: In regards to Maddison

Can’t rem if he has one or two years left on contact but there is def an issue there which is why it will be 50-60 mill and not way more

winks may go other way although Leeds have bid for winks as well
