Re Edmonton ITK - I fully expected this to be the case. As long as the chavs know the feeling is mutual.

Hypothetically: Would it be out of the realm of possibility for DL to use one of the other teams as a straw man? Have them purchase someone from Chavs and then we purchase that player from them? Or would there be verbiage written into the transfer from Chavs stating the player cannot be sold to us within a certain period of time?

Edmonton is more a financial or stadium ITK though, so he could be wrong. Well, I hope he's wrong

Arsenal will do it for the right fee.... they have previous buying clive Allen from QPR then passing him to Palace so as to get Kenny Samsum.

He's not. We're talking about the club who called Willian while he was at our training center not because they needed him but because they did not want us to get him. They spent 20+m to ensure we dont get a player.

They will not sell to us. End of story.

Thing is, they actually probably would sell to us. I think they would sell to anyone....CFC believe they only compete with the largest teams on the planet, if you aren't one of the largest teams then you aren't a rival.

The problem is coming up with a number that would work for both sides would be damn near impossible since the relationships between not just Roman/Levy is poor....but by several accounts all of our directors and their directors have a genuine personal distaste for each other to the point where i have seen it said that they can barely stand to be in the same room with each other.....try working out a number that works for both sides when the directors are trying to figure out how the hell they can murder each other.

So it's not a case of CFC not being willing to sell to us, its a case where both sides relationships make it so the negotiations would be so painful and protracted that i doubt anyone would willingly want to go through it if there was any sort of alternative solution (Bony from Swansea for us, Lukaku to anyone else for CFC) available.

Not too bothered by the Lukaku news since I'd always assumed that would be the case. I only we wish we could find these guys BEFORE they get to the Prem and make a name for themselves.
Did you know we were offered Zinedine Zidane as an 18yr old but turned him down because a Director thought he had a funny name.

I guess it really depends on exactly how much poch wants lukaku ( if indeed he does?) and how much the chavs wanna sell him & for what price they deem acceptable? If we approach them & they quote a figure & we are willing to pay it then bingo!
If we are not willing to pay it then we move on to the next target

Would Chelsea swap Lukaku for Paulinho I wonder. As the rumours fail to go away I can only see a player-swap as the way to cut through the spiteful valuations.

I think what you're saying is a part of it, but I do think they refuse to sell to us and for reasons beyond any pettiness between the boards. It's also not because they view us as a rival, it's because they view us as a "potential rival."

Doesn't surprise me at all if Chelsea won't sell to us. I only hope, if that is indeed the case, we have the good sense to recognize it rather than waste our time. Time which could be better spent trying to sign another striker.

Edmonton on COYS re dealing with Chelsea (Lukaku)...

My understanding is same as this thread, Chelsea won't deal with us on anything we want.

They're still bitter over modric whilst levy hasn't forgiven them over arnesen. I can't see any players moving between the two clubs.

Chelsea might pretend to sell to us, only to sell to one of our rivals at the last minute for half the price, whilst also completing a move for our second choice and loaning him out to Vitesse.

Chelsea would sell to us if we offered the right money! We tend to get creative on deals and they want a fast clean cash transaction!
Jose doesn't rate Lukaku (no ball control) and its going to be interesting where he goes and we are one of the clubs interested in him.
