Hahahahahaha!!!!!! LOL!

I would be surprised if city agree to this, Adebayor based on age and his record last season is worth 20m in today's market so City are taking a 15m hit in reality in terms of open market so why would they subsidise him to the tune of 50k a week? Not gonna happen IMHO
The problem for them is that they've put themselves in this position. They are simply going to have to take the hit or pay Ade the best part of £20m over the next 2 yrs. The money the recieve from us minus the 50K a week would have them 'only' losing a couple of million.I would be surprised if city agree to this, Adebayor based on age and his record last season is worth 20m in today's market so City are taking a 15m hit in reality in terms of open market so why would they subsidise him to the tune of 50k a week? Not doubting you but if Adebayor was training alone and away from the first team then what was he doing at training camp surely he would have been kicked out of the door by Wenger and that is a shitload of gear how would he carry it all to his car without anyone noticing?
One of the best things I have seen on here. Finally got my hands on the incriminating photo that put Dragon1 in hot water!
Well, by not paying the other 100k/wk they're saving 10mln+ over 2 years.
Also, and this isn’t directed at you, but for anyone to say "charity = tax avoidance" is really black hole stupid. Newsflash - THE MONEY DOES IN FACT GET SPENT. IT’S NOT AN ACCOUNTING TRICK. Nobody is dumb enough to give £1 to charity simply to save, what, £.5 in taxes? I’m sure the kids in Togo don’t ascribe to the complex equation of “charity = tax avoidance."
What happened about the massive 'investment' that all the ITKs were spouting about 3 weeks ago?
Again, that's completely their own fault. His wages - the ones they decided to offer him - and his desire to keep a similar level of wages make him rather less attractive than a striker with pace, power and a proven record in a top league coming into his peak yrs should be.As noble as charities are and what Adebayour is doing in general in this regard, why on earth should city, an employer he is leaving pay a weekly sum into his charity?
What possible reason would they have for doing this? Is add really going to refuse to go to another club over this?
I could appreciate it if he asked us to donate a weekly amount as part of the signing, but I have to say if I was city I wouldn't see the point one bit. If he wants to rot in the reserves then so be it, he is virtually off for peanuts anyway.
For this to hold up the transfer to us is a little on the annoying side.
Again, not knocking the noble gesture, just the reasoning here.
You really need to look at this before calling people stupid.
I earn 100k a week. I pay roughly 45k tax.
I then set up a charity paying 45k a week into it. I now pay no tax.
If it is a UK charity, by law 40% of the money raised actually needs to go to the cause. Thus I can pocket 30k of the 45k I put in.
For an African charity I bet it's a lot more
I was so tempted to post "fuck the Togolese orphanages, I wants me a new striker", but then I realised that half the site seems to have lost its 'sarcasm' detector.
I blame the weather. And Jenas.
You kind of answered your own question if you think about it.

Tax avoidance through disclosed schemes is not in any way against any tax law.

So trying to state some Facts re Ade Deal... He wants City to cover his drop in wages. NOT for himself but his charity. Somewhere in the region of £50k a week seems to be the issue and he wants city to donate that weekly to his charity. Not him. He's taking a massive drop to agree to join. He wants to join. We want him to join. It's city and the charity stuff supposedly stalling it. But chill. We'll have him
I'm really sorry, but despite the best intentions I think this is all spurious (an intentional pun!) nonsense. I really don't bash ITK, but really. I do however believe we will sign him, despite and not because of this.
I'm sure they are encouraged to do this for several reasons. PR and tax being the 2 main ones. It doesn't take away from the goodness it brings though, and it's not a cynical project to defraud any governments. Some people genuinely want to give back and find themselves in a position to do so. We won't know which suggestion was first; him going to the accountant and saying 'make me a charity, i want to do something good' or his accountant going 'hey, you know what...'
Google about Craig Bellamy and Sierra Leone, if you don't know about it already it may change your opinion on him.
