Agreed. That's when the important decisions should be made, and let's hope they go for early signings so that the incoming players get a full pre-season with the squad.

Other clubs have started announcing the players coming in - why would we only be having meetings regarding transfers this week?

Yer from what i heard Avb wants 1 mayb 2 early (not probably gona happen unless levy wants it) but there will always be levys transfer deadline day. Been told 4 in total AVB wants but dont expect it if we cant offload.

There have been previous meetings this is just to say where we are with all involved. Also how much we have to spend and other important club decisions.

Sounds like it may be another summer of bullshit negativity from press and everyone before we make a signing after the first week of the new season

I will remain optiimistic about this window hoping that AVB gets all his desired players until about 1 hour after it closes (still waiting for those last minute DL deals). Only then, will I come back into the world of reality.

England don't dream of being in the Confederations cup, just like Man U and Wigan aren't dreaming about the Charity, sorry Community, Shield, and Bayern & Dortmund aren't dreaming of being in the World Club Championship.

I'm not saying I won't watch it, mind you. After all, it's not often you get to see the might of Tahiti in action.

But a major championship? No.

Where do we stand on some of the players on the fringe? I know Gomes' contract is done. And while, not on the fringe, so is Gallas'. But what about Bentley? And is Friedel done? He's useful but has a pretty high salary for what is now a backup role.

Bentley: Has just been released on a free.
Friedel: Has a one year extension (as far as i'm aware).

I think Bentley's contract finishes but has an option for a year (which I assume is not being taken up) so he will be off the wage bill.

Gomes has another year and might be hard to shift as he has a broken hand at the mo
Bentley has/is about to be released according to ITK
Gallas contract is up and is on big money so expect him to go
Keep friedel IMO as a back up

I get the feeling (and definitely is just a feeling) that Lewis is a rare contributor. So rather than seeing this as negative, we should all see a meeting involving him (even if it's at worst a yearly assessment mtg) as good.
