SEEKRIN is a pretty simple anagram to solve...

Then there's "Tie A Yellow Ribbon", which has the lines "I'm comin' home" and "It's been three long years, do you still want me?"

I guess the Police song is the Sting = Bees connection?

Either way, Eriksen coming home seems the best fit for all the clues IMHO.

Given this is a multiple day cryptic and not yet confirmed, the name will be someone who is not already linked multiple times (as Trix suggested). This will be a sensitive one where if the name came out, it would be more obvious who leaked it. Hence no confirmation on names, or further guidance from ITK.

So we can discard Eriksen, Raphinha, Richarlison, Spence etc. There would be no reason for such caution. It will be more likely someone who hasn’t been linked with us solidly such as Kamada, or Paqueta; and/ or with some sensitivity around that player (maybe it’s a first choice of another club, and so we don’t want them getting wind of our conversations). Either a&c or trix are trying to throw us off the scent as they contradict each other, and we know a lot of stuff gets shared with the SC team in the background/behind closed doors.

My money's on a&c being the liar as I think he is rather enjoying us go balmy trying to figure it out.

Nah. We need a Kane backup. Conte bangs on about Kane being a focal point. If we are going Rapha over Richy we need someone else who can be that target up front. Otherwise one Kane injury and we are fucked.

Re the Cryptic. To add to the Eriksen theme and the song: Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree:
- Yellow ribbon round a tree is the symbol of missing loved ones, which fully fits with Erisken.
- Also Oaktree Capital are the main funders of Inter Milan and sit on the board. The bow suggests a gift: Eriksen left on a free an absolute gift of £16.9m to Inter Milan 3 (ok 2.5) years ago.
- The lyrics, as others have said, about a prisoner coming home after 3 years and not being sure if his Mrs still loves him, but he gets home and there are 100 ribbons!
Eriksen has said "yes" and more importantly, so have we!

I just can’t get my head around a&c being this smart.

We won't from the current shortlist of £50-60m options but it wouldn't surprise me if there was a secondary list that came into play later in the window if there is any budget left.
