Can we all make a deal? I will create a special thread at the end of the window where you can all chastise my optimism and insult me to your heart's delight without recourse.

But only if we do not sign two more players before the deadline slams shut and on the basis that you give Levy and Mitchell and Baldini until the deadline has closed before producing the sort of comments that Grey Fox's info has spawned.

Deal?

Agree for Yes, Funny for No.

FOR CLARIFICATION: not another Nelson/Saha. Although that Newcastle game he was quality.

I hit funny mate. Not because I'm saying no, but because I think you have a snow ball's chance in Hell of it ever happening! :)

GF's information is the first time, I feel, where the tone on Saido has been less than confident and even borderline negative.

Almost like he's now off the table. I doubt that's the case, but perhaps the club thinks that the amount that will be required is more than the player is worth. And now they have to focus elsewhere and hope WBA realizes that they tried to squeeze to hard.

Getting near to 20m it seems. And that is risky for a kid who has one really good year. That's not to say that he won't be a great player going forward, but it's worth considering by the management that the last offer already made him our 3rd most expensive player and now it seems he's heading towards Soldado/Lamela range. Considering that they have not worked out, its understandable why anything over 20m would make the brass a bit nervous.

But none of this helps ease our fear of a season seeing Kane be overburdened. It's very worrying this late in the game.

So no real change as of yet and still same arguments rage. Fuck sake get a grip you lot and wait for summat tangible to applaud/explode at.

Adding 5 million to a bid (cmon its only 5 million or circa 30%) is such a bullshit Liverpool way of doing a deal, imagine doing that on eBay, current bid £50 so what do you offer? Fuckitt heres £300... Nonsensical comments really.... But it's not your money I guess

Fucking hell this almost makes me want us to sign nobody else.

Like you mean giving himself a 30% pay rise (£500k) in the same year he sacked two mangers and spent however much to pay them off. There are plenty of players out there that don't cost an arm and a leg. How much has he wasted in the last three years on mediocre players that can't get into the first 11? That's what he needs to cut down on.

How much has he wasted?

Ask the net spend jockeys, they don't like it that we don't lose money every window.

In a few years time will all be looking back when we're stuck in a dilapidated WHL thinking if only we hadn't spent a few million on Yedlin and then signed another RB 6 months later

Oh dear oh dear wish I hadn't posted. Apart from getting rid of Adebayor and Lennon becoming more difficult not a lot has changed. Poch and Co have decided who they want and doing their best to get them. Whoever that might be I have been led to believe they will be quality.

I know it's school holidays but it must be time for bed for some of you

thank you for the info Mr Fox. Please dont regret posting, your opinion as well as info. Some have or adopt more extreme views, they are usually the loudest and most eye catching unfortunately.

Pretty big fortnight in the modern history of the Club, two very tricky fixtures and ideally two good signings to be made, the one up front essential. Let hope it goes the right way.

Exactly. Grey Fox posts some ITK about targets we knew would be difficult proving so, whilst assuring there is back-ups and and people take it as a cue to rant about Levy. It's not ideal and it does get frustrating but the relentless moaning serves no purpose.

Agree but so many out there defend him when clearly he alone has a huge part to play in the way we conduct our transfer business leaving us short or with the wrong player he then tries to flog a year later. No doubt he's been superb running it as a business but this transfer malarkey is not his forte.

If we don't get Berahino or a decent striker capable of playing instead of Kane then Levy should resign.

Which other top team in Europe has 1 striker.

Grey Fox:

Sorry later than expected. We have not given up on Berahino and go in with another offer, the Fazio situation is seperate and it's basically down to him, a couple of Spanish clubs have also shown interest.

There are apparently 2 back ups to Berahino one of which has not been mentioned on here. As far as the dm/cm is concerned I've been told the Germans are now very unlikely but we have had extensive talks with Illarremendi and one other, any deals are expected to be late although the club would like them finalised before the Everton game.

As far as outgoings are concerned Adebayor, is proving really difficult basically no EPL club want him so abroad is fast becoming his/our only option. Lennon interest has also dropped and we will have to drop price if were are to get rid of. Fazio will be easier and should get done by early next week.

Apart from the last paragraph, it's all pretty positive to me. We're going in with a higher bid for Berahino, which is better than 'we've given up on Berahino'. The first time anyone's mentioned 'extensive talks' with Illaremendi, who would be my personal choice out of all 3 midfielders mentioned. A couple of back ups for SB including one who hasn't been mentioned, which makes it a little more exciting for this forum.

My opinion is if Ade doesn't go, he'll train with the kids until he causes a fuss, which is when we'll ban him from the ground. I also think Lennon's contract will be mutually terminated if he ends up staying leaving him free to leave at any point. If it isn't terminated, there may be that 1% chance that he turns his attitude around and ends up playing a part for us, it's not like we don't need the pace. Saying all that, I think he'll be sold by 1st anyway.

All in all, it's nowhere near as negative ITK as some are making out. It's understandable though because there is no doubt we've fucked up in previous windows (not as many as some seem to think) so some fans will be fearing the worst. I will remain positive until 6pm deadline day, and only then will I stab someone if we're still a striker and DM short.

IMO IF we don't get SB then it would be a last minute for players like Austin or Remy etc...but I'm quietly confident that we will get SB. In levy we trust.

This Berahino deal is becoming awfully reminiscent of Schneiderlin 2014. Lots of he wants to come, personal terms fine stuff, everything except the fee in fact. Then a lot of "it'll get done"kinda stuff and well, it didn't did it. "They want £25m, we offered £15m" etcetc

Now we're into the "back ups" starting to be mentioned.
Not doom mongering, just the whole process from the vantage point of out here in the cheap seats is starting to look very familiar.
The good thing is West Brom already have replacements for Berahino whereas Southampton didn't have a replacement for Schneiderlin. I really do think West Brom will sell after squeezing as much out of us as possible. If I'm wrong however I wonder who the equivalent of Stambouli will be as our fall back

With Gooners looking set to land Benzema it will only add to our frustration trying to bring him in.

I'm confused, I thought I'd cracked the Cabbage cryptic but now it looks like it was Lee Bowyer and Seth Johnson.
