Alright enough about man size/love.

Say we dont get any of these targets, suarez, fabiano, hulk???, Rossi etc.

Do you think we should buy someone for the sake of it, for a reasonable price, based on the hope that they might turn into a revelation.....or stick with what we have?

The problem i see is unless Defoe hits goal scoring over-drive, then not getting a good striker in now could be the difference between top four and not top four this season.

Buy someone for the sake of it who's better than what we've got.

Had we signed a World Class striker in the summer, we'd be top of the league, EASY.

About that far. Or further. Pretty damned far anyway. Someone mentioned about 7 hours which seems about right.
Waste of time to walk that far - lets all chip in for a taxi

I believe Defoe does have the ability with VDV, Modric, Bale, Lennon etc behind him to get 10 goals between now and the end of the season [20 goal per season average]

He just hasnt had that many games playing as the main man up front

I just remember him and Rooney for that England hat-trick after we just bought VDV- only for him to get injured.

However if Defoe gets injured we dont have someone I believe who can get the goals necessarily and against some oppo when we need to play 2 up top plus VDV it would be good to have 2 major threats

a quick check of their squad shows they have a forward by the name of Quincy Owusu Abeyie.

Surely he's the man to lead the line for us on his own

I agree, I think we have to get at least one striker in otherwise we'll probably miss out on 4th. With Dawson and Gallas doing really well at the back and Kaboul too I'm confident we won't concede too many, but we're not scoring enough. Defoe has actually done pretty well since returning from injury and has 5 in the 11 games he's played this season (although none in the league yet), but Pav, Crouch and Defoe just aren't consistent enough at either team play or scoring to work as our three strikers.

Of course, if we don't get anyone from the top list (Suarez, Fabiano, Hulk, Falcao, Rossi, Vucinic and Carroll, I'd say), there's not much point as it won't get us anywhere. If we have the chance to get any of those players (and possibly Elmander is the only player I'd consider if we were desperate), we really have to do it. IF we can't get someone on that list I think we will suffer, but there's no point splashing out on someone who doesn't improve what we have.

I threw my boxers away if anyone's interested. On topic, I had a dream we signed a striker on Friday so this thread may as well close today, cos my dreams often come true (though to be fair, this one didn't end up with me waking up with a puddle on my tummy). I couldn't tell you who the striker was but I'm pretty sure he was ugly.

Did you dream you would shat your panties then mate? If you did, then i believe you.

EDIT : Edited. Sorted, cheers. :)

Either DL is haveing a cheeky week on the Costa Del Sol with all the expats or he's out doing business (i'd expect the later given the time of year). You know a couple of stars that play for Malaga and keeping with the South American theme good old Julion "the beast" Baptista is there!! Dear god not another window linking us to the beast!! (only kidding by the way as he only signed for them 2 weeks ago).

They do have a striker Sebastian Fernandez - who is from Uraguay and born in Montevideo (didn't somone say we were looking at someone from there but all assumed it was Forlan?) or how about Quincy Owusu-Abeyie - had a trial with us a few years back before moving to Cardiff and Al-Sadd......... What i'm getting at here is, no Malaga players please Mr Levy.

Cadiz and Almeria are also in the area (again not much to choose from, Cadiz have Irish striker Ian Daly for example!) oh and there is a little club called Sevilla - not sure if they have any players though!

As much as we all love Defoe, surely we can agree, he is too inconsistent and unlikely to add assists to his goal tally.

So we have Crouch, no goals, king of assists & Defoe, goals and no assists both indivudually playing of VdV. If we could merge Defoe & Crouch we'd have a great forward but in truth both aren't what we need which is a 15 goal & 15 assist forward to partner VdV

** Clicked okat too soon **

my point is, are any of the targets we've been linked with more rounded in their skills than Defoe & Crouch (the current first choice picks)

Need a bit of confirmation please...does this window end at midnight on the 31st of Jan....or at 5pm on the 31st of Jan (as some recent ones seem to have)

Rationale...if it ends at midnight then the evening is mine, but if it ends at 5pm then I'm definitely gonna need the afternoon off work that day!

Sunderland rule out Robbie Keane swoop SSN.

I guess Adiepfs source was wrong on that one.
