Wasn't there a comment yesterday, which seems to have been overlooked, where one of the other clubs looking at Paulinho said he had an agreement with Inter. I know it's not ITK, but it's worth repeating/considering/bearing in mind.

Somebody came out & admitted they made it up to get rid of Shakhtar because there's no interest in him going there (or something like that).

Call me s pessimist but with the known problems with signing players from South America, why are we bothering?
It took a monumental effort to sign Sandro, we still haven't gotten Leandro so why go after two more?
I could share my paranoid delusional conspiracy theory. But it might upset the vociferous among you that don't understand jokes.

you sir, are a pessimist.

Levy won't be splunking £18m-ish each on 2 (TWO!) brazilians to fit in with AVB's strategies if AVB is even considering getting off to PSG.

The Chinese Spurs fans on here yesterday, or at least China based Spurs fans, said the things that made me feel safest about AVB / Bale et al: You see kids wearing Bale on their shirts, and AVB is on all the football magazine covers.

Levy is a clever dude, and it won't be too long surely before we're no longer ONE (1) Hotspur, but Tottenham Hotspur AND Hong Kong Hotspur too. Or summink.
Tottenham Kongspur, Bale would be the perfect logo

Don't want to be pessimistic either but I know where your comin from. :( let's hope things change because Paulinho is quality and Bernard is a real hot prospect! Unless something's already done or close then imo leandro can do one. I'd prefer Martinez/benteke/Hernandez

Shaw,Paulinho,Bernard,Martinez/Benteke/Hernandez would be a great window but like you say those south Americans are tricky to bargain with!

Shaw, Paulinho, Bernard and Leandro are probably all to some degree do-able and i bet Levy gets a little semi on thinking about them. If AVB wants them hes delivered for him, if they peform as their potential suggests Levy will sell them all for a handsome profit. I can just imagine him now sat on his black leather swivvle chair stroking his cat while looking at a picture of Abramovic (i imagine he hates him) with a target on his face and laughing maniacally.

I don't see us getting Paulinho and Bernard because thats close to 40m of expenditure without us having a striker.

Plus as others have said dealing with South American clubs is tricky at best so doing both deals would take a lot of work.

just about signing one out of two tells me we could waste another whole window and end up on plan D on deadline day. ......... again.
Talking about Plan D, I can now exclusively reveal that Daniel Levy went into a fit of hyperventilating rage and even withdrew corporate dildo privileges when he read the 13th June's daily transfer bulletin which is faxed through to every club by the football association. Doctors were called and he was given several powerful sedatives to calm him down and he was even put into a straightjacket to stop him from punching Tim Sherwood in the ankles. Sherwood actually went into hiding and it took several hours for aides to convince Levy he'd made a mistake and the Danny Rose that signed for Oxford United on a free transfer on the 13th was not in fact 'our' Danny Rose.

Levy has since contacted the cheapskate Danny with an offer to buy his name. We expect this to go through 3 minutes after the name change deadline at the registry office.

But alls well that ends well and yesterday it was business as usual. He who must not be criticised was planning world domination and Tim Sherwood was curled up in a ball by his masters feet, having a contented nap.

If only we had a Director of Football with experience on how to handle these difficult transfers

I reckon today could be the day!

...that we finally get linked with Kaka.

To be fair, I actually had a dream of Paulinho and Kaká staying in my house (yeah, I know, but it seemed so plausible when I was asleep....). Kaká told me that he was very interested in moving to Tottenham, but Madrid would not allow it. He went on to tell me that Paulinho was for certain though.

China is indeed a huge market. Spurs has become better and better "known" in China since Bale's Champions League performance (vs Inter). In one of the Chinese forum, there was somewhat like 3000 members (90% is non-active) last year but numerical figure is now Tripled. Of which, a lot are big fans of AVB, who does attract people (and girls) here to have an eye on Spurs. Bale, however, does attract peoples eyes more in a sense like "Bale, you deserve more, leave spurs for XXX pleaasseee".

Tracing back a year or so ago, there has been bad time for Spurs Fans in China coz' most of the time we do not enjoy broadcasting. Every weekend in the forum was discussion on whether valid video streaming is available/accessible, unless we were playing against Man Utd/Man City/Chelsea/Arse/Liverpool. This year, however, local media started to provide more comprehensive coverage and we can see a lot more new Spurs Fans, even likes of Luka/VDV left us. I see the major reason is due to Spurs having been competing for Champ. League spot for years, and ppl had good memories we last did it.

How do we attract more Spurs Fans in China? imo, not to soley rely on one or two stars or AVB, but a vision of GOOD FOOTBALL is very important, particularly strengthening our attack. Many of the old members from the forum regularly telling me they still remember times like 9:1 vs Wigan, but hated 2:2s a couple of months ago. People here love Spurs, because of Spurs Style, not one or two stars. Keeping Bale/AVB is just a proven means of performing GOOD FOOTBALL, but that is far from enough. imo we most wanted to get more quality young players, at relatively affordable price ranges, and then keep working the most out of it. Bale gone/AVB gone will certainly make those quality young player doubting on their future platform if they were to consider signing with us.

Therefore, the first thing to do is : Keep Bale and AVB. It's just crucial.

:) bring it on mate

We chase unattainable targets. It looks good, the fans get excited, the players and the managers sense ambition, the media get wet, Jim White has a semi all day on deadline day and. .......... the deal collapses.

We've been linked with lots of big money moves in recent years that haven't happened. I sometimes wonder whether Levy knows they won't. .....

This is the case in the Middle East as well. People, generally, have a limited knowledge of the wider game and play FIFA more than they should. They think everyone should go to Barcelona or Real Madrid because it makes their FIFA team better and the same handful of teams are always shown on TV. Someone told me they hadn't heard of Spurs before the last few years (yet he claims to be a Liverpool fan, who does he think Liverpool play every week? there are 19 other teams!), but since the CL campaign he has started taking notice.

You say this and I partly agree but the signing of lloris on deadline day and VDV and also dembele (who was a few days before the end of the window) but all these would have probable been perceived as unattainable, but they came! Yeah we do clearly miss out on some targets but we do well at times!!
