I won’t lie, JJ’s tweet (taken on face value), is a bit unsettling. I really thought that we would use this window to back Pochettino with funds not explicitly reliant on outgoing sales. Unless, JJ is referencing a set of players we are pursuing with a combined price that exceeds what we are willing to spend in terms of net. But, in the plain light of day, his words pour a smidge of cold water on expectations about being ‘brave’ and ‘backing the coach’. I hope the reality is closer to something in between.
We were always going to have to sell players to raise funds for some purchases. Its always been this way, no idea why anyone would think its any different this window. Both Poch and Levy have said in the past they don't foresee spending £60 million on a player (for example), yet people completely disregard both men's statements.
Besides, we have a lot of players that can be moved on before we can add to the squad. Breezer said yesterday that VJ is on his way out (possibly this week) so theres one for you all already.
