Our transfers have usually had a net spend of £0. That means we spend all the money we get from transfers (just maybe not in the same window).
Exactly

I can't see the editor of some rag or another telling his hacks to stop writing stories because The Goat has bleated

I for one don't understand all this doom and gloom. We have lost one player so far and we finished second, so in theory we shouldn't be too much different.
The window is still very much open, and with another preseason as a SQUAD, the team gains that much more continuity.
Sure we all want a big name cause it is sexy, but good lord the squad that has been on a upward trajectory the past three years is still together for the most part and for some reason that is a bad thing?
There is no such thing as player in = more success. It's like people want a repeat of the Bale sale and 7 in year. That was fun to watch wasn't it? All the window drama equaled a pretty lackluster result.
We want and need new signings because we're missing both Rose and Son (1st teamers), and Lamela for the x amount of months. Our squad is very thin especially from an offensive perspective. With regard to the ITK there's obvious frustration as we don't appear to be close to signing anyone any time soon.
Because we were too thin to seriously compete in all competitions last year and now we are even thinner. Meanwhile our chief competitors are correcting their flaws. The only positive is that our squad is so young that the mere added experience will lead to improvement. But, by standing pat we are regressing overall relative to the better clubs.I for one don't understand all this doom and gloom. The other clubs are filling holes. Our first team is complete, so our task is more complicated as we need to add depth, but that isn't always easy as you need to upgrade what you in terms of a B team while still expecting an incoming player to be a squad player. The latest "goat" ITK actually points towards us focusing on just this issue given the comments about a back up striker, Wimmer and Sissoko. I don't expect this window to be that easy for us at all, save for a Walker replacement.Because we were too thin to seriously compete in all competitions last year and now we are even thinner. Very good post. To even begin to think/ believe Poch would be 'happy' with Rose, Lamela & Son injured, and Walker sold with no incomings/s completed is living in denial. Based on my reasons alone it cannot really be challenged can it?We want and need new signings because we're missing both Rose and Son (1st teamers), and Lamela for the x amount of months. Don't worry guys, Lamela back is like having a £7.9m signing
I like Lamela but can't see him back until at least after Christmas. And that's not a certainty eitherFixed that for you.
Agreed....adding depth and options. Liverpool exposed our weakness in not being able to adjust and play another way. They were the only club in the league to totally expose us last year. The other clubs are filling holes. It was their sheer intensity and pace that did us we couldn't have changed it other than started quicker, we were just too slow in our build up play.Agreed....adding depth and options. Are you honestly seriously worried? Maybe the sponsors or US fans will throw a wobbly. I would obviously like a reasonable team out on the field against Newcastle but the US tour is publicity as far as I'm concerned.Starting to get seriously worried we're not gonna have anyone in ready for the US tour in a weeks time. If we fail to get any business concluded before then I'd start to worry about players having the time to settle in and get up to speed. Which is something we can ill afford considering we're gonna be short 3-4 first teamers when the season starts as things stand.
