What ever happened to that chap CorlukaModric?

Forgot about him, source went with Redknapp and co?

If you take out JJ and Akqayids tweets, the info coming in really is thin on the ground. Not sure whether that's because it's not making it to this forum or because the leaks have been plugged. Or there's f all to tell?

So you'd be the one person. The one who said in January "don't sell Pav, he's great!" or was it "we'll need him next season!" Funny cause I don't remember that. I remember things like "great bit of business" "I can't believe Levy got that much for him" and so on. Other than that, Ade and Saha came to the end of their loan/contract, and going back further Keane and Crouch were both told by the fans to not let the door hit them on the arse on their way out.

So who shouldn't have been sold?

this doesn't disguise the fact that we have now put ourselves in a corner by v.naively letting go of Strikers before having Strikers ready to replace them leading to the anger now seen here its stupidity by the club...simple as that.

Not having secured a striker with only 4 days to the start of the season is only marginally more embarrassing than thinking we had a chance of signing Hazard.

We really are a one of a kind Club.

It's about having a contingency plan. I was happy enough when we sold Pav because I was stupid enough to think we'd have made sure we had another striker ready to sign permanently. Instead he was replaced by a player past his best, on a short-term loan that only served to paper over the cracks.

If I'd known a short-term loan for Saha was the replacement I would have definitely been saying "don't sell Pav."

It's definitely reached desperation point as far as us fans are concerned.

Our striker ambitions have gone from Llorente, Falcao, Leandro, and Hulk....down to Carlton Cole, Heskey, Carroll and Bendtner :ROFLMAO:

Are you sure it's the ambitions that have gone down?

Indeed. And yet someone rated my post as dumb. I'd like to know which of my musings on 'having no striker' or 'thinking we could sign Hazard' was the dumb part.

As far as I can see, both parts are spot on.

I get your point but I don't agree with you. This isn't the place to go over it but our start last season had fuck all to do with missing out of CL. That baby should have been wrapped up regardless and we actually still finished 4th.

100% agree with you. It should have been wrapped up regardless. My worry is that the first 3 games are games we should get results in because of who we are playing and we would need to be at our strongest to win these games. In the corresponding fixtures last year we drew 2-2 against Newcastle (Fair enough), we struggled to beat West Brom 1-0 (Full strength i think and funnily enough Defoe scored) and Norwich we LOST 2-1 (Adebayor didn't start and again Defoe scored). Anyway good result and Newcastle and struggled with the other 2 which should have been wins. We should really be looking for results in these first 3 games but from the weaknesses i am very nervous.

When you miss out on CL by 1 point at the end of a season you can see why some of us our keen to have at least one decent striker in our team before the next season starts.

So do you think, if we'd signed Adebayor before the season started we'd have won 4-3 and 6-5 in those two games ?

If I remember correctly it became apparent that he probably didn't really have a source and if he did have a source it was a source that was able only to provide info on what CorlukaModric's lunch had been that day.

Im still quietly confident that Ade will be done. For all the uncertainty Levy surely will not sell his new manager short...and if he does then shame on him!! and im sure the Spurs crowd will let him have it first home game of the season.

Rumours are that Llorente is available at around the £15 million mark - at 27 years old, would that be such a huge risk? Even Leandro, who in all likelihood would cost more but demand less in wages, would surely have a sizeable resale value even if he were to fail at Spurs.

Don't we employ scouts to identify players that are worth taking a gamble on? I don't disagree with you about the training facility and stadium, but youngsters like Harry Kane would probably rather learn from a truly top class striker, rather than from Jermain Defoe, and not all good strikers cost upwards of £20 million.

He may well be available at £15 million, however there could be a whole host of other demands that you know nothing about.
£120k a week ages, demands of CL football, etc. We also do not know what other clubs are in for him, we could match another club and he'll simply pick them because they have CL football next season.

Exactly, its a moot point. The points dropped at the back end of the season against the likes of Norwich, QRR and Villa were much more significant.

You mean we should have gambled on Falcao from River Plate - a columbian with no european experience who'd already had a cruciate knee injury ?

That sounds plausible.

Benfica refused to sign him because they asked for €700,000 extra. You think Levy has cost us with his negotiating ?

Or should we have signed Falcao for €40m from Porto ?

We gambled on Berbatov at 11m and he turned out to be worth 31m. We do gamble. Some work, some don't. Hindsight is beautiful.

Let who have it? Levy?

I think I'll stop short of verbally assaulting a man who has just lost his mother and who is probably frantic about his very sick wife.

Yes it's frustrating and I'll be as pissed off as anyone if we don't sort out our striker situation, but I'd be even more disappointed if people started laying into Levy.

That's a rather stupid point of course we wouldn't have! But the games would have been different due to us actually being able to control ball possession, instead of Defoe not being able to hold in the ball but Adebayor can.

I reckon all these useless f*ckers get found out then reinvest themselves under a new name.

Pardon the language. But tonight, today and from here on in, I'm taking no more shit.

Arsehole ITKs on Twitter are being abused and unfollowed. And Those obviously not knowing what they pretend they know are getting none of my attention. I'm having a spring clean of who I trust. Not many left.

You Original were once upon a time high up in my regard as a man who knew stuff. More than perhaps you let on. What happened?

1. It became a poisoned chalice
2. Some of the info I was given in all honesty I'd rather that I wasn't told
3. My source no longer involved with the club

I much prefer being on this side of the fence I can tell you.

Que sera, sera

It was a stupid point. But the point was that stupid points beget stupid points.

We didn't loose by the odd goal. We still had players like VDV to score goals and hold up the ball. We shouldn't be losing by 5 goals just because one striker is missing etc etc.

Not only did we not qualify for the CL because of not having Adebayor sooner, we didn't even lose those games like we did because we didn't have Adebayor. We got hammered in those games because we didn't use what we did have - which was good enough - well enough.

Not sure how to put this subtly to you.... so i won't.

STRIKER, STRIKER, MUFAFUCKING STRIKER, STRIKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No-one on here is stressed about is making sure we have another RB or CB etc... we're all banging on about the fact that we haven't bought a proper striker in at least 3 years.

I surmised that you were not capable of subtle thinking, which is why I asked you a direct question - which was:
"...are you saying that our Club - and Levy in particular - just don't like strikers. Sign quality all over the field, but as it has been determined that top-class strikers would make us ultimately successful, Levy is declining to find/sign them?"
Are you saying that?
