Hearing that Levy would have sold Kane is like when Neo is told by Morpheus that nothing in his life is real.

I just don't know what to think anymore... :sorry:

There's no point in keeping unhappy players. To be honest, Poch buying Wanyama for his spot after the season Dier had just had, must have had some effect. ED doesn't really look happy or, imho, very accomplished as a CB. I don't like selling him to Manure any more than the rest of you, but if we got a shedload of money and Fosu-Mensah, who really could be special, thrown in, I think we'd be ok.
There's no real evidence Dier is unhappy. All the interviews and his demeanor suggests a very committed player.

Sure, he may have spoken to Poch about wanting to settle into a position ie. midfield for the benefit of his career and United may have contacted us to express an interest. As Trix says it may be worth keeping an eye on but it's a long way from Dier moving to United.

Levy doesn't like to deal with them since Carrick and especially Berbatov and Dier is one of Poch's favourites. Don't think he's going anywhere.

Dier isn't irreplaceable. I'm a fan don't get me wrong. But I can't think of one single thing that he has as an extremely strong trait. Very much a jack of all (defensive) trades in our system. If another club comes along and draws him in with promises of making him a refined midfielder, I can see why he'd like that.

That's what he says... His actions point to profit maximization and very little else...
Not the thread for a Levy discussion but have to disagree with this.

Levy does keep an eye on the money side but for God's sake look at where we where when he arrived and where we are now. We're the envy of most teams - Vibrant young squad, challenging for the title, best young manager around, new state of the art training facilities and half way through building the best home ground in the country.

He's no short term profit merchant.

I'm so tired of the argument "with that much money we could buy several players to replace X with". It's rare that a club sell a first teamer and end up improved after spending the money.

It's maybe boring but I'd much rather we just keep our players. I know you probably want that to and try look at the bright side, but that argument keep popping up every so often and it mostly never end up like that.

I'd much rather we kept the current squad as well and if it was any other position I'd agree with you about being very difficult to replace him, but if we were to get the kind of figures that have been mentioned in the press then we would be receiving enough to set a new world record for a CB.

I can't see United meeting our price though.

Everyt ime I've watched the players walk off the pitch after a game I'm always intrigued to watch the body language between the players and Poch.
Dier and Lloris get the biggest Poch bear hugs.
That to me suggest they are his favourites.

There, I've applied science and hard evidence. Dier aint going nowhere.

It shouldn't be a surprise. There isn't a magic way to pay people less than the competition and try to screw everyone with whom you negotiate, and still get everything you want.

Re goats info. I find it crazy how levy could potentially jepodise the growth we've had like this. I know a lot of it's how we got here but there needs to come a point where the mindset & policies change, I would have thought that would have been now.
