So we're not showing ambition by not giving players $150-$200k a week? Maybe these players need to be reminded how much they've won over the last 2 seasons, start winning boys.

they will..... elsewhere

we will never be a big club if we continue to pay wages equivalent with lower mid table teams. we are massively over achieving and that wont continue forever

Everton arent far behind and the other 5 will steam away from us if we dont pull our head out of the sand soon.

its one thing paying stupid money for average players and a very different thing paying what players are worth - we are paying very very good players much less than they are worth.

im scared.............ahhhh i dont want David Pleat back

It's hard not to see us as a less successful Dortmund. They consistently lose they're best players, Aubameyang this summer and Dembele probably next summer. I don't see how we wouldn't be different.

You can talk about projects, Poch, the new stadium or how we're the place to be all you want but fact is how much a footballer earns each week is what it's all about.

It's a bit lose, lose for me because I would hate it if we became a soulless vacuous club like Man City just so we can overpay players so they don't leave. However seeing the position we're in right now player wise and how long I've waited and dreamed to be this close it would make supporting us pretty redundant if this team got ripped apart just because of wages.

If we get to the top, we will eventually have to pay players more. I'd rather we spend some money on raises to keep the best players than buy very expensive players.
This is the point. Don't up their wages and you then have to go out and try and replace them, while also giving that new player big wages in any case.

Take the Arsenal example and Sanchez (to a lesser extent Ozil) - by the time you've refused to give them their 200k+ wages and sold them, you've then had to use up most of the incoming money to buy their replacement to again pay out massive wages.

Cheaper way is to increase the wages of the good player you've got by £100k a week (5 million a season), rather than start the whole cycle over again. Apologies for using an Arsenal example

If Dier goes then I can see Alli and Pochettino leaving shortly after.

Two steps forward, four steps back...

The difference between us and them is that they win things...

Oh well we are obviously doomed. There's no hope and we can look forward to league 2 footy soon.
we might as well make alterations to the stadium plans.

Turn it into the world's largest IMAX boys, it's over

Yeah should've put a lot less successful. They win things and still can't convince their players to stay. If they can't I think we need to wake up and realise how hard it's going to be not to lose players.

I wonder whether all this Dier leaving crap is something created by player agent(s) to make more dosh for themselves.

It destabilizes a 'happy' team and ultimately leads to more players wanting to leave.
