I would have thought the games in were when he was injured a bit as well. Either carrying a knock or recovering from. It isn't clear if he missed games through injury or through national team selection, although he was part of the squad for a Japan game in October 2012. Brazil played last night while league games were going on, teams were depleted. I know Damiao is injured and wouldn't feature but others are withdrawn from their club sides.

He has scored for Brazil since then and scored in each of his 4 previous games before the 23rd September. Yet to feature yet this season (5 games) due to injury and international duty.

injury prone too.

fucking hell.

Rodrigo has looked very average in the 2 matches he's played for Spain in the Euro U21s. Morata has been vastly superior.

I would agree for RVP. I am sorry, I dont think we are even sure Damiao is of the class we are comparing him with.
I could be wrong, but IMO simply there is nothing at the moment even to talk both of them in same line.

"Damiao is going to be one of the top strikers in the world," Ronaldinho told the Daily Mail. "I read that he is being linked to the Premier League - the style of his play would make him very dangerous there."

That guy knows a thing or two about football, and the player (y)

When will you realize that above "average" players are 20 million plus in the current transfer market? I have seen Leandro in the flesh a few times over the past two years and can say that for the talent he undoubtedly is, and for the money Inter apparently want he would be a great addition to the squad. The alternatives we already have in the shape of Defoe and Ade. But i guess you already knew that?

yes above average players cost more than average players, basic supply and demand but thanks for clarification. And average players dont warrant 2 years of wasted endeavours.

i dont rate him at all and want us to move on. sorry about that.

I'm not saying you're wrong, i'm saying that the people who decide on our signings think/thought that he's good enough and worth pursuing. If they have changed their minds it won't be because of his form but more the aggro of dealing with his club.

Personally I have no idea

Quality player IMO. Don't know what has gone wrong at Arsenal but they have f..ked up their best defensive player. If Kaboul is unlikely to return as he was in season 2011/2012 then Vermaelen is an excellent replacement.

If we sign him, I would suggest getting that Chadii and Benteke to complete the missing puzzle of Belgian team. Lol

Yup like how they decide that Dempsey is a 2nd forward....

Wow.. 45M? Thanks for the info but I still cannot believe such a high release clause is place on a kid (when he sign it). Portuguese club had some strange practice but the players are dumb enough to be held ransome.

If we ever to sign Damiao, we should have a EUR 60M release clause slap on his face.

He would of course not go for anything near the clause, but any idea of snapping him up for 8m odd is well wide of the mark. Would be at least 16m and then the rest most likely

I've put longer reports about him in the relevant thread, btw.

sounds like your writing the guy off before he has even had a chance to prove himself to you mate - sometimes thinking on the positive side and having a little faith can do wonders for ones outlook on life and spurs

obviously when it all comes crashing down into a smoking pile of sodden shit it hurts like a bitch but at least you would have spent some time being mindlessly happy!

try it! I promise - it will hurt but its worth it.

OK, no you didn't "say" he's shit, but you "intimated" that he is, via pointing out that he hasn't scored a league goal since the 23rd Sep2012, and then pointing out that he has failed (in the 8 games) that he has been used in, because he hasn't scored. I merely pointed out that the best striker in the PL went 10 games without scoring so, be sheer association, why were Man Utd so desperate to sign him for £22mil?

Players go through spells & patches, what's to say that's not what's happening with Damiao? You may have a point, you could be spot-on. However, I personally place more faith in the scouts and the 'football experts' that have spent the lat 2 years watching this lad & still believing that he is what we need. They know MUCH more than I do, so I have no choice but to go by their opinion (y)

Agreed. I trust our scout system & trust AVB as well, but I fear we would bring someone who could have the talent but may lack everything else.

I digged some more into his stat

Since 18 sep 2011,
Internacional played 55 games (later half of 2011, 2012 & first 5 games of 2013)

Damiao - Injured - 31 Games
Played - 25 games
Scored -8 goals (with his last league goal in sep 2012)

Agreed he has been part of Brazil set up , played in Olympics and other friendlies. If you look at Brazil, there is no one proper central striker at the moment. But they seem to trust Damiao which is good.

After all this time, if we end up getting him & him not able to perform for whatever reason would be killer blow for us this season. So AVB, Levy & probably Baldy have a lot to think about before deciding to buy him
