Well done Ben Stokes. That was first class. Hat's off to you from a humble Aussie.
I did say you were still a big chance as the pitch was not playing around as much. Sets up the next 2 nicely.
Team selections will be critical for the next. We will have Smith back, Marnus will stay and probably Wade will make way Head dropping down the order. Starc will play (has to) for Pattinson. Those changes will certainly make us stronger.
Is Anderson going to be fit? If so surely Woakes out, and if not would Curren offer more from his all round play than Woakes?
Well enjoy the miracle of Headingley boys.

Absolutely magnificent batting performance from Ben Stokes...when it was backs to the wall he showed the big cojones.

I just hope the team have finally twigged that you need to bat properly and with patience is Test Cricket.

Sadly though it wouldn’t surprise me if we go straight back to having a swing at every ball outside the off stump mode.

So; team for the next Test?

Stokes, I think, can be pencilled in ...
I think had we lost yesterday there would’ve been wholesale changes. Considering the Ashes would’ve been gone.

Personally I think we’ll see: Burns, Denly, Root, Stokes, Pope, Bairstow, Roy, Archer, Broad, Leach, Anderson

I expect Anderson to come in IF fit - for Woakes. Don't think they'll change the batting, even if they should. But they must lower Roy in the order, for his, and Englands sake. Try Denly up there, I don't care. Just not Roy.

I'm interested to see what happens after the Ashes. A lot of questions:

Bayliss is off anyway, who will be the new coach? I reckon they'll go for Collingwood.
Will Root stay as captain? (I hope not). If he doesn't, who will be the captain?
Denly will probably be dropped as he's 34
Buttler is terrific, however he's better at T20 and ODIs than in Tests.
Will they persist with Roy anywhere in the lineup?
Will Bairstow keep wicket or will they bring back Foakes?
Will Jimmy Anderson retire?

I'd say Burns has shown some promise as an opener - tough series to come into - but needs another decent opener with him and the chance to build a partnership e.g. Cook/Strauss and Langer/Hayden
I think Moeen is done, so Leach will probably stay as our spinner
You could argue that there might be some question marks about Broad depending on far into the future the selectors/coach want to plan for. Though he might stay around until the end of the next Ashes series.

I think the only team change will be Jimmy for Woakes. There is a very good argument for shifting Denly up to open, since that's basically what he's been doing anyway bar a couple of overs, with Roy dropping down to 5.

Burns, Denly, Root, Stokes, Buttler, Roy, Bairstow has a more solid feel to it for me, even though they're the same batsmen who came and went in the 67 total.

I've had a really good look at the Stokes LBW. Hawkeye has the ball move quite a lot in the air after pitching. How does is determine this given impact was so close to pitching?

Just doesn't look anywhere near as plumb as the technology suggests.
