It’s all got to their heads. With a bit of composure, We could have set them 350+. Root should’ve anchored the innings. He made a good 40, but playing his natural game could’ve got more. Bonkers getting stumped with the game in the balance. And again that declaration…..

Yep. We threw away some stupid wickets today. Mainly from wanting to play sweep and reverse shots every other fucking ball.

Being Spurs fans has made some of you absolute melts in relation to all sport

"Oh no we might not beat the best team in the world in a very closely run match so we should give up on our approach entirely"

I hope they pick Davinson Sanchez in the next test just to teach you all a lesson

We now have an identity that places the win as the goal, even if we lose. For so many years England teams have crawled along in every aspect of the game and still lost! How often does the braver team come out on top? I’d say more often than not and it’s so nice that we are the braver team for a change against that lot and I take us to win tomorrow too!

One person has said to give up on our approach entirely so very much a minority opinion.

Buzzing for the rest of the series, regardless of the result tomorrow.

Aussies trying to play normal cricket against the bucket-hatted agents of chaos. Reverse sweep first ball! Declaring for the bants! Maidens are for fairies! Brilliant.

I can’t get my head around the bucket hats, it’s like some horrible throw back to the 90’s, just waiting for the round sunglasses to complete the look!

Brilliant post!.
I am still not sure about declaring on day 1, but hey at least test cricket is sexy these days.
I am old enough to remember Boycott and Tavare at the Oval 40 odd years ago determined to bore everyone to death and cushions being hurled onto the pitch by the crowd in protest.

Weather forecast looks like the morning session might be a wash but hopefully the afternoon session onwards has little disruption. Should be plenty of time to get a result either way then. If Khawaja is not out at the end they should win but get him out early then the rest might fold. The other key issue is not to let this current partnership with the nightwatchman add another 30 runs. It's always annoying to see the guy sent in to protect the frontline batsmen at the end of a day's play actually look quite competent with the bat.

Like I said before

280 is more than enough
Totally agree, said the same earlier. 4th innings scoreboard pressure just does something to the chasing sides brain…. Unless it’s England of course, we seem to get some writes kick out of it!

Rain in the morning followed by cloud cover basically all day…just what England would’ve wanted. If Australia still win the game in these conditions then fair play to them.

Good opinion piece from Aunty here in Australia.
Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

“Something is happening here Mr Cummins, but you don't know what it is”

Not exactly a vote of confidence for this ‘skipper’

I’m not so sure about that article - England are most definitely playing to a plan but I’d say the Aussies have been spooked and pretty reactive almost from ball 1

More by luck than judgement they find themselves needing 170odd on the final day

Don’t get me wrong, it must frazzle the brain, especially the captains, playing against this style of Test Cricket but I still think Cummins-Smith could have done better

My worry is that we've got Marnus and Smith cheap in both innings; that is VERY unlikely to happen again, so we simply have to make the most of this.

I think it's a flip of a coin right now, the pitch doesn't have many demons in it, the weather will take some time out of the day, and if Khawaja bats for a session they probably win the match.
