I'm not sure moving in to quiet areas is a good idea.

I normally sit in the south or south east corner but for Swansea I got a free ticket in the east upper, in the northern corner. It was dead there. Polite applause was as lively it got. When the Park Lane started singing, I joined in but had to stop as I was getting looks. I started singing under my breath. If people see that behavior has boorish I don't think moving a group in temporarily will sway them.

I think we're better off focusing in one area of the ground amd expanding out.

Yeah you could be right but I still think it may be worth a try for at least one game, if anything to get the name out there and what 1882 means. I sit in the Paxton and perhaps it's for selfish reasons but I genuinely believe many fans have forgotten how to support the club and forget the reason why they are there (and that includes season ticket holders). They now think that they are a customer and demand a return on the money they have paid (hence the "I pay my money" comment). If we got a group of fans who only want to sing then it might help revitalise some of them. I know first hand that there are quite a few fans in the area I sit around that feel uncomfortable singing, especially when there are more vociferous ones shouting abuse/negative stuff. All it takes is a song and they are quite happy joining in or clapping along. It's just getting to that point which is the problem.

There were quite a few occasions last season where a few 'well knowns' would start whinging and myself and a few others would actually use songs to drown them out. In some ways its better than direct confrontation and sends them the message that they should think about their role as a fan.

I really don't like the idea of 'giving up' on some of our fans and the sections they sit in, but do understand your argument that it may not be giving up but more so pushing ahead with one section and expanding it that way. Which of course makes most sense.

I can only applaud the work that the 1882 movement has done and whilst it may go in fits and starts with some games not going as well as expected this is a long term project, that needs to reverse years of gradual decline.

I contacted the club about the new stadium suggesting they keep a section free from season ticket holders (im one btw) in order to potentially allocate noisy fans to if they wish. They responded, and whilst they didn't directly say they would, they did confirm we were both on the same page and when they look into seat allocation they will consider how best to maximise the atmosphere.

I agree, in the decade that I've had my season ticket and those around me who've had theirs longer, none of us have ever chanted ; )

I'm all for 1882 livening things up at the Lane, but don't forget about those who have spent many thousands of pounds over many years.
I don't understand how this has any relevance. What are you suggesting they get the seat engraved with their name or they get a medal or something? 1882 are the real champions here, proper supporters.

After reading this you've convinced me of your argument.

Thanks, I feel so much better for our interaction together.

I don't understand your point when you say; don't forget about the fans who have spent thousands, so would be grateful for clarification. I'm slightly weary about those that use that as an argument (and im one of them) as it seems to me that they are the customer type fan who feel most threatened by this movement, as if they have something to hide or defend. we should be all on the same page here. better support with less moaning.

Apologies for not being clearer.

I guess what I was trying to say was that posts that imply bracketing all season ticket holders as moany gits who never chant isn't an accurate reflection on reality.

I get a touch frustrated when certain sections of the ground, certain sections of our support are singled out as not participating in generating the atmosphere, whereas the contrary is true from my own eyes and ears.

For example, the post that suggests the shelf didn't respond to "we the park lane" just simply wasn't true. Every time it was heard over the racket being made by Cov fans, it was responded to. If it wasn't responded to, it was because it couldn't be heard, not because we couldn't be bothered.

Anyhow, I agree that we should be on the same side, better support.

Good laugh on Saturday - thought the atmos was good given we were playing a League One team. Tailed off in the second half, but there was some decent banter in the first...

Us: '2-0 in your cup final'
Them: '3-2 in your cup final'
Us: 'We're tottenham hotspur, we've won it 8 times'
Them: 'We're coventry city, we've won it 1 time' (hmmm...think we won that exchange)

We were getting some respect on Sky Blues Talk for being a bit lively even though the game didn't mean as much to us.

Let's keep it up in the next few home games - hate sitting in silence while the away fans slag us off.

We're doing the Arsenal away game at Underhill. Once we've heard back from the club etc we'll make an official announcement.
