Something fresh as we look very stale. Play the ones that want to be here while also freshing it up:

Sanchez - Dier - Davies
Sissoko - Winks - Ndombele - Sessegnon
Lamela - Kane - Son

bench: Skipp, Parrott, Lucas, Tanganga, Alli (allthough barely. He's only here on name).

Why bother with our hopeless fullbacks like KWP, Aurier or Rose? Let's give 3 at the back a chance.

Jan, Toby and Eriksen are all out soon and on current form is no loss.

This will NEVER happen, but would be really interesting.

With Kane support and Levy not willing to pay compensation, it looks like Poch will stay on for now.
I recommend 4231, a defensive midfielder, and from now on never play with both of the ageing central defenders. Also make Kane captain to see if it change something.

Lamela _ Eriksen _ Son

Really like Tanganga. I'm convinced he'll be one of our best CBs for years. Bench for this game, full debut against Watford.

Time to make amends. Let's start the same team as against FC Bayern (except of Aurier whois suspended)
I expect the lads to do good and make up for that appalling performance on Tuesday

7-0 Spurs

Changed my mind here. Neither Dele or NDombele are fit enough to play twice in quick succession atm. Poch will want to keep Sissoko in the side and this is a sensible way of doing it. The addition of Lamela and Dier will bring in two fresh players

Rose, Toby, Eriksen dropped completely Maybe give Rose a chance in a few weeks. Toby & Eriksen for good. Tanganga debut next week for Jan. Winks dropped for a week. Wanyama is an afterthought. Invest big in January with a CB, RB and AM to give us a fighting chance at top 4.

I wouldn't pick Rose nor Eriksen.

Lloris

Siss - Sanchez - Toby - Davies
Dier - Ndom
Lamela - Alli - Son
Kane

Maybe Lucas instead of Alli

Basically mirror Liverpools formation, 4-3-3. Lamela maybe doesn't suit it, but on form and attitude alone he deserves to play.

And now for something completely different... What if we went back to 4-2-3-1, but with a slight variance.

Firstly, time to integrate Foyth, Davies and Sanchez into the back 4. I think we'll be a bit more solid defensively, with those guys, plus 2 more defensive midfielders in front of them.

For now, NDombele is not physically fit enough to play in a CM 2. So, why don't we lean in to his attacking strengths. Put him in the three.

EG:

Lloris

Foyth
Toby
Sanchez
Davies

Dier
Sissoko

Lamela
NDombele
Eriksen

Kane

Admittedly, this isn't the most explosive team, but I believe it might help us do a better job of transitioning back into a defensive posture. Likewise, having the three consisting of players who are highly capable on the ball, could potentially lead to us having a bit more control over midfield.

To me, that's been our biggest problem for months now. Our midfield looks a bit bedraggled and disorganized sometimes. Especially when it comes to transitioning back into defense. That's where we've been picked apart recently. When you look at how teams attack us, they pass between the lines, as the lines are usually all over the place. Very little discipline. Constant mental errors, and players failing to track opposition runs. This is a particularly an issue I see with a variety of players. Not to pick on him, but watching Dele on Tues, I counted at least three times in the first half, he switched off and didn't track a Bayern player making an overlapping run past our fullback. Thereby leaving them completely free to put in a cross or run unimpeded into the 18 yard box. He's not the only one guilty of this.

I think having two defensive minded players in the CM2 isn't very sexy. But right now, we need stability in the middle and stop being so brittle/fragile when other teams go on the attack. When we were at our best between 2016-2018, we normally had a combo of Dier/Dembele, Wanyama/Dembele. We looked much more solid when they were at their prime. Sadly, playing Winks, NDombele, Sissoko and Eriksen, is just too flimsy. Winks isn't strong enough or good enough to be playing as a defensive midfielder. He's far too easily overrun.
