whether we have six days, six weeks or six months rest after the watford game it still doesn't change the fact that the players only have one day of rest between this game and the one we've just played. the everton game has no bearing on how well the players will recover from today and how ready they'll be to play so soon after.

Exactly right. 48-72 hours after is the worst period for pain in the muscles from the lactic acid. Poch will have to rest many of the guys, or Monday's game will be tough. This is a very good opportunity to make use of our advantage in depth over Watford, as well as the fact that they faced a tougher match today.

Smaller teams drop away because they don't have the quality to replace their first teamers when they tire or get injured, we do.

Both are true IMO. The depth extends to not only a stronger ability to reload after injury, but also valuable options when the first choice players are displaying signs of fatigue, which is especially inevitable in this league.

Any person that goes to the gym knows that muscles will only repair themselves when they are rested.

I wouldn't make massive changes but a few would help. Rose for davies and maybe trippier for walker are obvious ones.

The part where you said that we are capable of replacing first teamers if they are injured or tired.

But you were talking about the latter part of the season not the Watford game which is why I quoted you...?

I am talking about the whole season. We will need to rotate throughout the whole season. As i said not too many changes for watford but it is a good time to rotate.

Why do the smaller teams usually drop away from the top in the second half of the season? Because of injuries, bookings and tiredness. We don't need to make massive changes to the team but we need to rotate throughout the season to keep players fresh, if we hope to finish strongly.

This year my amateur/semi pro team played a home game on a Saturday then went an all day journey in a mini bus and one car on the Sunday to play an away game on the Monday which we won with no drop off of performance then drove back non stop for work the next day.

No complaints and none of sciences available to us that are used by pro EPL clubs.

I disagree, I think we need to go with our strongest team to keep the momentum going then as the season goes on then you rotate a s rest players accordingly and I think that's what Poch will end up doing anyway.

Maybe this is why Poch is a millionaire coach and I'm sitting at home watching American football and stirring a pot of noodles, but I'd actually make pretty extensive changes to really push that advantage. I'd exchange the FB's, wingers, and midfielders, which would make for seven changes. Not only would I push for that advantage, but I'd take the opportunity to get some guys some needed minutes post-injuries such as Bentaleb, Chadli, and Son.

There is a bit of a difference in standard. The drop in performance might be small but at the top level that can be the difference between a win and a loss.

I am not saying that they are incapable of playing, just that their standard might be lessened and that the risk of injury will be greater. We need to rotate throughout the season to reduce the effects of fatigue. By the end of the season it could be the difference between finishing 4th and 5th.

We need to be super careful with Dembele.

Dier, Alli;
Lamela, Carroll, Son;
Kane.

Subs: Walker, Davies, Eriksen, Mason, Bentaleb, Onomah, Chadli.

Dembele most likely wont play

Dier is our best player in aerial challenges & has got to simply man mark Deeney out of the game.

My XI

Lloris
Walker, Toby, Jan, Rose,
Dier, Caroll,
Lamela, Son, Alli
Kane

Son for Eriksen & Caroll for injured Dembele and Rose to freshen up the defense.

Far too lightweight with Son and Carroll against a big strong Watford team.. Better off with Bentaleb and Chadli

I really do wish we'd have rested Dembele and Walker yesterday, we'd have got by no problems without them. Really can't see either starting against Watford, yet I remain unconvinced by Trippier.

Need fresh legs so Rose, Chadli, Son, and possibly Bentelab or Mason almost certain to start.

We have the better squad, feel we have to utilise it. As the games are so close we possibly need to rotate (although happy with whatever team Pochettino picks).
I'd keep the spine of the team. We have quality players now chomping at the bit to play and impress. COYS...

Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Bentaleb; Son, Alli, Chadli; Kane
