I think for me it has to be

Lloris
Aurier Rodon Alderweireld Reguillon

Hojbjerg N'dombele

Bale Alli Son

Kane

We have nothing to lose anymore we may as well throw the kitchen sink on it this team is extremely harsh on Lamela but I just thnk this team has more bang to it.

Alli will also ease the burden on Kane and son as Alli likes to drift out to left etc they can all switch around and it should on paper be fun to watch at least.

Rodon will also not let whatever two-bit striker Burnley have bully him but unfortunately, I think he may be on Jose's naughty list.

Not sure if your last line is ITK but I’ve heard a similar story. Not pleased with the company he keeps by all accounts

Massive shame if that's true. Think he's one of our best CBs personally. Intrigued to know more.
Me too. First ive heard this. Also woulda thought with his welsh colleagues around they’d keep his head screwed on right.
Hope it is merely conjecture. As I like the look of him. Very promising defender, who like many CBs at that age need game time, mins to improve. Which means suffering through their mistakes.

Watching VVD at 23 at Soton, vs VVD at 28 at Pool, you’re seeing two completely different players. As is often the case with CBs... many tend to have their best seasons between the age of 27 and 33. Because the best in that position are those who can read and anticipate. Always focused. Able to organize those around them. Which is also why we miss prime time Jan. And to some extent Walker too. A few seasons back, they were integral to our defense success. Both in their prime, both much better at communicating and organizing.

Truth of it is, we simply do not have good enough CBs in this team to form the type a strong line of defense required for winning titles and for that matter getting into the top 4.

I feel like John McEnroe when i see Sanchez in starting line ups..."YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS?!?!"
Sanchez clearly has some great attributes but his biggest issue, as identified by Jose previously, is his weakness on the ball. He invites pressure because he just has no composure at all. When the ball goes to him the opposition know that under pressure he will go backwards.

Toby and to a lesser extent Dier both have a longer pass in their locker. At worst you give the ball away 50 yards up the pitch. Sanchez forces the entire team to move back 10 yards.

It's got to the point now where I dont see Sanchez having any strengths bar his pace.

Technically awful, somehow at 6ft 2 he cant head a ball, positioning is shocking. Really struggle these days to see what he is bringing to the table.

Shouldn’t be keeping any company at the moment!

Apologies fir my ignorance here but I was wondering if anyone was able to elaborate on this Rodon being on Mourinhos naughty list/friends thing?

What's he been up to?

I don’t really know to be honest, just heard from a few WhatsApp groups that he’s currently not in Jose’s good books. He’s also conspicuous by his absence from match day squads and training photos so maybe people putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 5 or maybe something in it.

the story I’ve heard his that Jose thinks his attitude is off and doesn’t like the company that he keeps which looking at previous videos of his friends I can see why.

Agreed that we have nothing to lose. Sad days.
Aurier instead of Walker or Trippier
Toby plus another instead of peak Verts & Toby
A chance that Winks or Sissoko might get on vs Demebele/Wanyama
No peak Eriksen
How far the mighty have fallen. Thanks to whoever is responsible for this decline & dead wood.

Thank you for that. Gotta say, it certainly doesn't sound positive. Fingers crossed that it's just gossip & nothing more because the lad looks like he has good potential.

It's not just that there was a broken promise by Jose. (then apparently some anger by Joe that Jose didn't like). (Then the famous loyalty to other players quote).

There was also this issue when we signed him that the Club warned him about the difference of playing for a bigger club and the professionalism side of it which is fine, but Joe has worked harder than anybody this season to try and get game time.

Imagine how you would feel if you were watching those in front of you make mistake after mistake? Then you make one and you are called out for it in video analysis etc. Then the next game comes along and you watch the senior centre backs make mistake after mistake but the manager again blames the younger players.

His friends aren't the problem as Joe hasn't seen them or others for some time, yes the boy does like to party and go out but he never does it during the season. Yes, a few of his friends are edda's (nuts) as we say in Wales, but please leave that notion drop it's not the company he keeps. If you want to slaughter someone for enjoying himself with his friends and family then so be it.

Check out his brothers twitter just to see how close they are and how they support each other and how vocal his bro is of his support for us. (if you think its wrong that he is still friends with people he grew up with because he is a down to earth guy then so be it).

But you can't pick your family and most of the time you do not pick your friends.

For what it's worth the treatment of Rodon by Jose and his team so far has been diabolical, he came in he trained harder than anyone took everything on board Jose has told him been praised by fellow teammates to then be promised things that never materialize.

I would be fucked off too, eventually doesn't matter how hard you are trying eventually you will lose your emotions.

Hopefully, he gets a chance tomorrow to be involved as we will need him as he is the only centre half at the club that is capable of not being bullied by Burnley.

If not Joe should look at going to Brighton (there was interest there previously) or someone similar for a loan to think he chose us over West Ham bless him.

Then hopefully he outlasts the current regime and we reap the benefits in a year or so to come.

Thanks for sharing and clarifying some of the issues.
It has been bizarre to see two of our younger, more able cbs getting left in sidelines/ pushed to rb whilst the senior cbs continue getting opportunities to repeat their mistakes.

I guess the perspective on this from Rodons point of view is that he wasn’t expected to get much game time at all in the pl this season, so any is a bonus.

patience is required, even if it makes a mockery of the meritocracy

I personally dont care if Rodon gets drunk as fuck every night. From what i’ve seen, he’s a FAR optipn than either Dier or Sanchez & that is all that matters to me. He should play ahead of them. As should Tanganga.

A lot of people are putting Dele in their teams because of two good performances against Wolfberger, who in my opinion are no way near the standard of even our bottom PL clubs. In other words he had it easy. As a Spurs player, love him to bits but do they honestly believe he has done enough to say replace Lamela who has at least been showing up against the big games in the league?

What I am going to say is nothing to do with this thread but I felt the need to let people know . I am watching Newcastle v Wolves and there was an incident that was almost identical to the penalty Newcastle were given against us that being the Dier handball .
It went to VAR and was correctly not given but you can't help thinking " how comes that same type of incident ended with a penalty being awarded for Newcastle when they played us " may be its common sense being applied but my paranoia tells me if it was us it would have been given as a penalty . Does this opinion make me a saddo or should I just let things go ?
