What a signing.

It's those sorts of signings (not the big name buys, IMO) that turned us from mid table strugglers to regular top 5 finishers. The question is how to identify more of them.

Agreed, especially the young English British one's who were the core of our team for a good number of years from Jol's time up to now,either signed or brought through the youth:
Walker, Dawson, Rose, Mason, Carrick,Lennon, Bale, Jenas, Defoe. We now also have Dier, Ali and others to add to that list.
Great stuff. I may have also missed a few. Dawson, Lennon and Bale were key for me as you say in moving us from a mid-table team to a top-5 team.

Our signings have actually been pretty good last summer and especially this summer after the disaster of summer 2013. I'm pretty confident that we've fixed the problem of an inadequate scouting team and now we're doing a much better job of identifying young players who will fit our system. Plus our youth system is doing a good job with players like Mason, Bentaleb, Kane, etc.

I'm pretty excited to hopefully see a 3 man midfield of Dier, Mason, and Alli - I think that could have some real energy and balance to it.

Dier as the fastest player at the club is a reference to this from january;

Half way through last season, Dier was the Spurs player that had made a sprint at the fastest top speed in game. Only five other clubs had players that had been faster than Dier.

Was that the game where there was a really strong wind and we were playing downhill?
