i Just hope that Levy will back Conte properly and not turn on his heels and say: Hey the team is good enough to get Champions league, so we do not need "that much"

We have been here before. Previously we have CL qualification and not invested properly. I am hoping the Conte factor makes DL think differently this time. If not we will always be left behind. This really is our last opportunity to keep up or even be reasonably close with City and Liverpool.

Goals for the window: (1) improve the first 11 via WBs, left and right, (2) prepare for 5 subs by bringing in some attackers who can change a game late, (3) develop a plan B, most likely a 352 for teams sitting back, and (4) add depth to cope with multiple games a week and inevitable injuries and drops in form.

(1) Perisic would be a perfect complement to Sess on the left. In the likely event that that doesn't work out, Kostic fits as well. On the right, someone with a plus cross to rotate with Doherty or that someone and Spence with both RWBs out the door.

(2) Would love CDK as a versatile option across the front 3 but in addition someone who can score from outside the box and just make something happen. A motivated Bale would be perfect to come in and have no other remit than go score. Not convinced a motivated Bale will exist sadly.

(3) Eriksen. That's it.

(4) LCB, CCB, CM, GK. Plenty of great names have already been listed.

Of course, the 9-10 listed isn't really feasible but work towards those goals. 6 or 7 could happen especially as many of those options could be frees which would transform this team that is already rolling.

Pretty sure Conte could turn Dwight McNeil into a very good LWB. We can probably do better but he’d probably be as cheap as chips in a Burnley fire sale.

Not sure Burnley will need a fire sale, but think they will keep McNeil. He has 2 years left on his contract and Burnley have the option of an additional year.

I think Spence would have added a lot to today's game (wierd to say since we won 5-0). Having a WB that can easily beat his man that has the pace to make uo some serious ground would have opened them up easier.

Emerson plays too simply and cautiously to be effective against opponents like today.

Today's result is very good news ????

Ps if I see any negative "we won't back Conte comments", I'm putting you on the ignore list.

This was ALWAYS the plan, we all said it back in Jan. This summer WILL be exciting.

Back him to the fucking hilt, give him what he wants even if it isn’t the club’s typical m.o.

As I said in the other transfer thread, Mbappe really should have waited until today before re-signing with PSG.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. Could make for an excellent WB. Certainly has a decent left foot and is an excellent crosser of the ball.
Dare I say. He could be our Robertson like Liverpool. They purchased Roberton from a poor Hull side and he was a standout.

Mcneil is essentially in a similar boat at Burnley. This could be a shrewd bit of business if we go for him.

Little update.....

Might not be quite so many out as I've been saying all along. Conte has been very impressed in the last few weeks with a couple that were all but gone. Not just that it's been improved performance wise, but mentally how they've dealt with the pressure. Right offer comes in for them they'll still go, but Conte now happy to keep them around where as before he wasn't.
