From COYS - unlikely but I would much rather have him than Barry

Oh and some equally unbelievable and good news about Berbagod.

had dinner with a well respected football agent on the weekend who has a big in at ar5ena1 and he told me to watch what happens with diarra this summer.

apparently we came to an agreement with portsmouth that they sign diarra and sell him to us this summer as ar5ena1 refused to deal direct. In return we sold them defoe

dont shoot the messenger if not correct but he also said berbatov would not be going anywhere!

Would 'Arry doublecross Whinger?

I hope so, if only for an almighty belly laugh at the expense of the goons...
:rofl::rofl:

Leaving the scum for the charms of Pompey did always seem a strange move for Diarra...

Its not entirely inconceivable, Ole Harry does have connections with the club and we have certainly put alot of business his way (Mendes and Davies played a big part in keeping Pompey up that year)

If making such an arrangement also meant he could get Defoe Im sure Harry the wheeler dealer would be up for such an opportunity.

**doesnt Redknapp co own a race horse with someone on our board??***

True or not its a more interesting piece of ITK then most

The following quotes might be nothing. Alternately, it might be that our DoF is chummy enough with Diarra's agents to do the dirty. From December 2007:

"Tottenham Hotspur will try to tempt Lassana Diarra from Arsenal next month [...]
"Diarra alerted a host of clubs, including Lyon in his native France, when he revealed his determination to quit Arsenal just four months after joining them from Chelsea. He said that he was frustrated at his lack of playing opportunities - he has started only four Premier League games - and alleged that Arsenal had reneged on promises made to him.

"Damien Comolli, the Tottenham sporting director and Diarra's compatriot, knows the midfielder's representatives and will look into signing him for Juande Ramos, the club's new manager. Ramos would like fresh blood in defensive midfield."

I'd like Diarra to happen as he's quality and this rumours keeps on surfacing so hopefully it'll turn out to be true...

Oh and Berba staying would be bloomin' fantastic too!

Seems unlikely but he's the sort of player we need. Sounds like he's been excellent for Pompey aswell.

very interesting, although, maybe not very true.. So, was it a deal we had with Harry before he signed Diarra, or just when he enquired about defoe again in Jan??

i dnt know alot about diarra. Does he score many? Forward going?

Defensive midfielder in the mould of Makalele. Only got ousted at Chelsea because Mikel is better and he'll turn out to be one of the world's best in that position so that's fair enough.

He has scored a couple for Pompey but I think that's fairly rare for him. His main attributes are defensive and that's what we need in our midfield.

Now that all put a smile on my face. I think it's a plausible theory. Some of the numbers bandied around on Defoe transfer seemed oddly low so maybe there's something in it. I can well believe Ar5ena1 would refuse to deal direct too.

As to Berba - can't imagine it's more than speculation on the agent's part but goes directly against Dragon1's info. But hey, maybe it's her/his turn to be fed duff info to out the leaks....

Diarra has been nothign short of outstanding at Pompy and was highly rated at Cheslki but played out of position at RB

Defoe for Diarra?? Thank you very much!

I want this to happen just for the laughs.

And if it does, can we send the cheque for Diarra's transfer fee straight to Wenger and the goons, tastefully wrapped in a brown paper bag...

(With the appropriate adjustment via Defoe's, ahem, "transfer fee".)

All allegedly & hypothetically, of course.
