Seeing your boy play at that level must make you so unbelievably proud and must be so cool too.
It’s a weird one tbh, of course I’m proud, but also very realistic as to what’s needed, so I tend to see myself as mostly supportive!

I learnt a while ago that my body language impacted him playing, walking to toilet, or checking phone, he’d worry I was upset with him etc, but the biggest thing is how hard he has worked, he has been second choice for a few years, but now grown and developed secured the number 1 spot just as his club got back to cat 1 - perfect timing as a 2nd year scholar, he’s put in some really strong performances in first two league games, playing against international players, I personally think he holds his own, easily and a few more like that could possibly see an England call up,

6’4, agile, both footed ball playing keeper - he has it all, just needs to keep his head down, work hard and hope for a bit of luck too!
I’ve seen 100’s of academy kids play since he was u9/u10, all the way through, so I really see the effort and work that goes in, not just in games but off the pitch, my job as parent is to just keep things normal for him as much as possible!

And to stop walking to the toilet & checking your phone during his games 'natch :cautious:

I'm surprised to hear that tbh. I think he did earlier in his career but seems to have knuckled down since?
Hope he isn’t knocking around with that dubious Irish character again.
Although I did think he looked a great prospect at 17, subsequent loans have shown he probably isn’t up to it.

Yeah I’d heard about that a year or so ago. Such a waste if that’s what’s being alluded to. Could get into a bit of bother if he’s not careful.

As someone who has witnessed that journey at close quarters with a sibling and now with a younger cousin coming through - you're doing the right thing. Let the pressure he feels be that which he puts himself under. And when he doubts himself help he see it as an opportunity to improve.

Good luck to you both

I think this attitude Label is a lazy one. We've not heard that he's lazy in training or he argues with the staff.

From what I've read he doesn't have an attitude. He works hard, he does his best and he's more reserved but he used to hang around with the wrong crowd and it reflected poorly on him because they were making poor life choices.

As far as his ability goes, I think he will end up in the Premier League but he'll be a late bloomer and he'll end up being a wide forward for a mid to lower premier league club

Thought it might be interesting to hear what his recent managers had to say about him.
Probably deserves more credence than the word of a guy up a tree.

Can't help but feel he should be going to a championship side and not a league one team

Alfie will be an absolute stand out player in League One. What a signing for Vale. I thought he would have done well at QPR in the Championship.
