May be a bit early but I'd like to see some rotation and the players getting used to the idea of there not being a starting XI. We have great depth in the squad now and we need that mentality shift to it being a squad game. Bissouma, Lenglet, Perisic, Richarlison, Doherty would be a good for plenty of minutes if they're fit enough.
Conte rarely rotates his squad, judging from last season. So i wont be surprised if the exact same lineup bar Romero lines up tonight. I dont favour this lack of rotation but I'm not Conte

See that Paul O'Keefe is predicting the team I've been predicting, Perisic and Sanchez in
To me that makes sense assuming Perisic is now fit enough to start
The only fear for me is if Traore starts on the right. But TBH whoever plays LWB will need help dealing with that guy in full flight
True, end product etc, but you still can't let him have a free run
I bet Sess starts again

Seeing as we struggled against them last season this will be another good test today. Coys

The last 7 home games against Wolves stretching back to 2009 have yielded a poor return in terms of wins and points.

We have won 2, drawn 1, and lost 4, more recently we have even lost 2 of the last 3 home games against them at the new ground, winning once.

Ironically over the same periods we have a much better away record against them.

If we beat them today it will be the first time we've beaten then in front of home fans since we've moved into our new ground as our only win registered here was behind closed doors re covid.

Time to start improving that ratio at home to them today COYS !

If our midfield plays as it did against Chelsea in the first half Wolves forward line will have a field day. Of course they’ve scored less than a goal a game since Lage came in so it’s very much a case of moveable object vs stoppable object.

That really is bad. Sanchez Dier Davies just isn't that good when it comes down to it. And Sanchez next to Emerson isn't great either.

Arguably you'd want to bring Lenglet in for his passing but then you'd have to change 2 players and make is Lenglet - Dier - Sanchez which is suboptimal. Shows we still urgently need to sign a top class CB.
I agree with only making the one change at the back.
Who do you think we should get as the top class CB that is realistically available?

Hopefully not cursing us, but from the beeb:

Wolverhampton Wanderers

  • Wolves are winless in nine Premier League games, their longest streak without a top-flight victory since a run of 17 between February 2012 and August 2018.
  • They had just one shot on target in their goalless draw with Fulham last week.

Good chance of Moutinho starting this one and Jimenez getting 30 minutes or so, won't be easy and we need Son to start playing well again.

Definitely want to see some of the new lads starting today. Maybe even Perisic at RB and Bissouma in.

As ever at home, to a lesser side -albeit a well drilled one, the first goal is crucial.

If we score in the first half its means they'll have to be more adventurous at some stage and that leaves space for us which we love.

0-0 , or 1 nil to them at half time and it could be a very difficult game for us.

That said I'm going 2-0 Spurs. Kane with both.

I honestly think that, when up to speed, Bissouma will offer more than Hojbjerg in ability to get around the pitch and dominate.

Would love a win and a clean sheet. Need to get that first clean sheet of the season.

Came from Potters Bar this am. Off at Finsbury park, tube to SS, train to WHL. No problems.

I honestly think that, when up to speed, Bissouma will offer more than Hojbjerg in ability to get around the pitch and dominate.
They’re very different in their attacking and defending. Højbjerg has an underrated passing range, as the remarkable stat for number of high quality chances he has created shows. Bissouma is a dribbler, carrying the ball forward 15-20m himself à la Dembélé or Ndombele.

Højbjerg defends positionally, blocking off passing lanes and always positioning himself with regard to the defenders (another less obvious quality that leads to him being underrated). Bissouma defends with mobility, tackling, intercepting and disrupting the opponent in possession.

Thus it isn’t just about which is “better”, it’s about which has the skill set to counter the current opponent’s style and midfield quality.
