Everton at home. 1 x FK. Header
Southampton away. 1 of 2 goals. Penalty. Other a ball over the top.
Newcastle at home. FK -> Penalty
Man Utd away. Penalty.
West Ham at home. 2 x FK. 1 Header. 1 not defending edge of the box. 1 x OG.

5 out of 8 goals directly from set pieces. 1 other indirectly from a set piece. 2 others non set-piece related.

Concentration levels aren't good enough.
Sanchez was out of his depth from the off, nervous and generally poor. Guy has not improved one little bit since he joined.
He's not comfortable playing on the left that much we know, but he's not the reason we throw away a 3 goal lead. Stop making scapegoats and go back and analyse west hams 3 late goals which all came 5 minutes after Antonio was substituted.

Aurier is a liability. He just can't stop giving away free kicks. If we're playing a team who thrives on set pieces he should be nowhere near the team. He has at least two mistakes in him every game

Sanchez is one of the worst centre backs we have had in the ENIC era. Everytime he has the ball i worry. If the ball goes into the box anywhere near him I worry. He exudes zero confidence.

Harry Winks has not kicked on. Its as simple as that. IMO he brings nothing to the team. He can't screen the defence. He doesn't create chances and his passing is sideways and backwards. He makes John Obi Mikel look like Glenn Hoddle.

Sissoko is a bench player at best. He is tough, robust and quick but like Aurier he's liable to give away stupid free kicks and make stupid errors.

Until these players are replaced these sort of games will happen from time to time and its something we'll have to get used to.

correct, but there is also VAR who should be doing their job properly.
That's my point exactly. It's the culture and mentality to look at excuses at this club. This Bale incident was near the end of the game. 5 or 6 nil up and we're not blaming VAR. There was nearly an hour between our 3rd goal and this incident. Ferguson used to scream at his teams to attack, attack, attack even at 3, 4, 5 nil up. Take the game away from the opposition. We went into cruise control after 20 mins and got exactly what we deserved.

As bad as the defending was, if you keep inviting pressure and conceding possesion, then this will just keep happening.
Over and over and over again.

Yup. We did that all the time under Jol. Sat back to defend a one-goal lead, and more often than not conceding.

José screwed that up well and truly. We came out second half with 11 players behind the ball and invited them on. We're simply not good enough to win a game by being passive. We have to attack. If we let the other team attack us, we'll concede goals. Against anyone.

Dont think our approach was wrong. We took west hams strength with the pace of Bowen and Antonio didnt do anything.

But we should have been more hungry on the counter. More clear and precise, it was just so sloppy.

The last 10 minutes were an unnecessary freak show and a mentality thing.

Hard to come to terms with but ripping the players apart probably won’t help them or us.

You just have to credit Lanzini for the strike really.

- I really hope Rodon turns out to be a godsend for us, really tired of Sanchez and/or Dier always screwing things up for us.
- Winks and Sissoko together on the pitch. ALWAYS ends bad for us, its time mou realizes this
- On the positive: lately, when shit results happens for us, we're being good at turning around: after the sheffield humiliation last season we went to finish the season on a high, after the season debut against everton we went to smash southampton, and after the newcastle draw we went to beat chelsea, haifa and united in the same week. Really hoping mourinho do his thing again after this one.

Sadly we gave them their Stalteri moment. Will never hear the end of it. The only way to lessen this pain, is for us to kick on and win the league.

Yes go win the whole thing. If we are not gunning for the title with this squad with the right mentality, then what's is the point.

Hope lesson is learnt and we kick on from this very moment.

Criminal... had it stayed 3-0 and talk would have been of mounting a title challenge now we’re back to being a laughing stock.

We can’t have good things

Seriously even if we had won 3-0 we are no where near mounting a title challenge!

Maybe this result is a good thing if it brings the people who seriously thought we were even close to a title challenge back down to earth.

I’m not jumping on the Winks bashing but why did he come on and become the base of the three. Tactically makes no sense.

Mourinho's call. Quite inexplicable really that this seems to be a tactical decision from Mourinho since he's done it on numerous occasions already.

It won't. There's some still posting that this result might be the kick up the backside we need to go on and win the league :ROFLMAO:
