look at the bright side - Winks was pinging it around pretty well in the second half and released Dembele with a lovely ball for our second.

He got loads of stick in the match thread about his passing. Out of our CMs he is the most positive. He's just coming back from injury so needs time.

Got much better in the second half and an excellent pass to release Dembele.

Poch needs to stop trying to be so clever - if Kane is rightly rested play Llorente!

What's your problem?

If you didn't think that was awful I'm not quite sure what you were watching.
I haven't got a problem, you have. We won, you idiot. We don't have the result changed because it didn't live up to whatever bollocks is between your ears. I wasn't watching it, I was listening to it. This match was important for two reasons: to win, which we did; to get squad players, esp senior ones, a run out.

Winks was actually allowed to play centre midfield in the second half and it made a big difference in his performance.
He quite simply has to be released and given freedom to actually force attacks. I think he's at his best when he does everything quickly as he has the speed of thought and ability to do things with the ball others can't. He's actually excellent at driving with the ball too, we miss that a lot of the time.

We played much better in the second half, we were very unlucky to concede their second goal. Gazzaniga, our hero tonight, Hope Poch moves him up to our second choice keeper. COYS!!!!

When we first signed Paulo Gazzaniga, I thought it was a bit of a joke and quite farcical. Fair play to him for proving me to be an idiot. Not sure about everyone else but I feel a lot more assured with him in goal than Vorm.

Happily have him as our new no.2 going forward. Vorm should be sold/released/thrown in the sarlacc pit come January to make room for an English no.3.

What a typical League Cup game - load of shit, plenty of stress and squeak though at the end.

Positives:
Aurier
Gazza's saves
Minutes for Winks

Negatives:
Loads but let's give it a rest for now

Sorry but I can't get over Llorente taking the pen with his right foot, is he right footed/ambidextrous or what?

Which explains some of the shit he's produced in front of goal on his left foot, he looks uncomfortable at times when he's shooting, why not put it on your left if you're struggling, baffling...

Need a leftie on that side though. KWP and another player who cuts in playing in front of him would make us too narrow.
Normally, I would agree - but if Son plays wide - there is no room for a WB to utilize that space, they end up crowding each other.

He could become the number one for Argentina.

I must admit I'd feel a lot more confident with him between the sticks rather than Vorm.

I've always thought we signed Gazzaniga because we thought Vorm was leaving the next summer, but then we gave Vorm another year. Still don't get it, even though I've never been uncomfortable with Vorm in goal before he played these two games.

I agree. Poch had both he and Sissoko holding behind the fullbacks much of the first half - Winks on the left and Sissoko on the right. No point in putting Davies forward right now as poor as his form is.
And we're so much better as a team with Davies (or any of the other fullbacks, but particularly Davies) in a de facto back three when we have the ball with Son in front of him and two midfielders in the middle instead of one.
