Didn't he supply the first half cross that Moura should have scored from?

To be fair yes, I was stunned. One swallow doesn't make a summer and normal service quickly resumed.
It's not just Rose, we have serious issues with crossing from the flanks.

Imo we did change the shape of the team in the second half. We went to 4-2-3-1 and looked so much better for it.
Hmm well good to have a plan A & B then I suppose. I wonder if poch will persist to start with the diamond most games or will move to 4-2-3-1?

I always thought our best football was with a 4-2-3-1 with the double pivot security and full backs bombing on providing the width but I also was at goodison last season when we played the diamond and smashed them 6-2 so it can work for sure.

Oh well in poch we trust

I'm sure I saw on Opta's twitter during the game that 58% of Eriksen's corner fail to beat the first man.

Surely the players and coach see it, just make sure we have the first man for a flick on.

If i was coaching the defending of an Eriksen corner, Id stick the biggest man front stick and the 9 others half way up the pitch for a counter attack.

Ndombele, Eriksen and Lo Celso will be looking for each other on the pitch. To play one-two, keep possession, have fun. We've already seen that once today. I'm just worried about Eriksen mentality. But there is sooooo much potential there. We can have tremendous midfield.

Thinking about Lamela getting a yellow for not taking the shortest route, if he had, he would have had to walk round with his white shrt, who is supposed to supply him with a yellow tabbard like all those close to the touchline are supposed to wear.

You do remember how brilliant he was for his first five seasons right?

Last year was anomalous for the whole squad for many reasons. Eriksen and Dele in particular suffered from the fact that they were dragged out of their natural positions to paper over the cracks of our threadbare central midfield. They had to do the yeoman's work in midfield and couldn't focus on their strengths in the final third. They were both poor but didn't suddenly become shit overnight, it was a collective failing.

I'm sure you're right that there's a price that Levy would sell for. I'm just suggesting that we shouldn't be desperate to accept a lowball offer just because he'll leave on a free in a year. In the interim he could easily provide value that exceeds a derisory fee, which is what I'm sure clubs in Europe are hoping to get him for now that it's our last chance to sell him.

I'm convinced Levy is desperatew to sell. I'm equally convinced Eriksen will run down his contract.
Personally i'm tired of hearing excuses for how poor Eriksen and in particlaur Dele have been since Jan.

Not quite sure what's classed as a 'derisory offer'

That brace today takes Kane above Keano in the all time PL goal scorers list and level with Hasselbaink. There's a bit of a gap from them to the next player, van Persie, but if he has a decent season he could break into the top 10 with over 150 PL goals. Injury free, I think he can go on to break Shearer's all time record.

Not sure what formation we played in the second half as all our outfield players were practically camped in their half. Even Toby & Sanchez spent most of that half in Villa’s side of the pitch.

Eriksen’s entrance made a difference as he plays further up the pitch than Winks usually does. Most of the time our players were looking to pass the ball to him to try and unlock the compact Villa defence. So I’d say that Eriksen did have a positive effect on the final result.

You can see why they signed Mings up. He headed every ball away this afternoon
Said at end of season we should have gone for him.
Him and KWP had fantastic performances today imo.
I suppose Mings will go for 80m at end of season when the big boys finally twig he's a fkin good player.
Turned on TS after game and some old boy, spurs fan, said Wright Philips did well lol. Commentators kept laughing but didnt have heart to pick him up on it.

If we can keep Eriksen and Rose and sort our RB issues, we are looking the tits. Our midfield is absolute class. (Just no diamond!)

You do remember Eriksen has been awful for most of this year.
Who knows it was Eriksen who made the difference today or Poch finally changing formation, Villa tiring.
If we can get 40-50m in this window Levy will take it, no doubt about it. Those funds can then be used to invest in the team. Lo Celso is going to make a huge difference to us and if Eriksen refuses to sign he needs to be the priority.
If Lo Celso is as "awful" as Eriksen was last year we'll all be delighted.

Some stats: Shots/On target/ Goals

Liverpool 15/7/4
City 14/9/5
Spurs 31/7/3

It's an old problem for us that still remains.
