That to take a good corner also requires attackers to make the right run, get a good connection etc. He put two corners in that landed in the middle of the 6 yard box, really you cant ask for much more than that but unfortunately as the attackers were nowhere to be seen it appears that it was a shit corner.

That he can deliver a fantastic corner is undeniable. Hence why it defies logic that he so consistently hits the first man

The point is that his value to us on the pitch would exceed the value of a low-ball offer from a club who think they have us over a barrel due to his contract. The CL run last season was worth €100m. Finishing in the top four is worth a huge amount of money as well. Continuing to do well in the league and in Europe is also crucially important for our ability to grow the club's brand and the commercial revenues that come along with it, not to mention our ability to remain an attractive prospect to players on the level of Ndobmele, Lo Celso, and Dybala.

We saw today how incredibly influential he is for us. If he stays and plays at his best level, even if in an attempt to make himself attractive to a megaclub on a Bosman, it will be hugely valuable for us. We can't sell him away for anything less than a fee that reflects his worth.

You do remember Eriksen has been awful for most of this year.
Who knows it was Eriksen who made the difference today or Poch finally changing formation, Villa tiring.
If we can get 40-50m in this window Levy will take it, no doubt about it. Those funds can then be used to invest in the team. Lo Celso is going to make a huge difference to us and if Eriksen refuses to sign he needs to be the priority.

It's getting to the point where I actually think it could be worth letting him walk on a free. What would we get now? 50m? A lot to miss out on but we'd have arguably our best player for another season and there is still a chance he might extend if things are going really well.

It worse because it's £50m we can't spend until January.

Even if GLC is Eriksen's replacement there is no garantee that he will hit the ground running and replace what we lose with Eriksen.

Really? Rose showed he usually fight and determination but thought he wasn’t great defensively or attacking today

Zero end product and often reckless defensively, one awful pass to Winks stands out.
Don't doubt he runs around a lot and works hard but that's not enough for me.

Did we change to 4-2-3-1 2nd half? I was at the game but couldn’t really tell. Looked like we did and moura went RAM, Lamela LAM and Eriksen CAM or was it still the diamond but we just actually had some creativity when Erisken came on?

Hard to tell from where we sit as only a few rows back so don’t get the tactical view.

Either way important comeback and win :)

Eriksen's introduction changed the game. Another poster mentioned keeping him until the end of the season. Have to agree. We paid 11 million pounds for him.

Even Kane suddenly looked more lively.

bang on. The notion that we can 'just replace eriksen' is mental. He is a worldie and we dont buy worldies, we buy potential.

There is a reason Sessegnon has been bought imo.

KWP had a very good game. I don’t think the formation helped as there was no creativity in MF until CE came on. Lamela was awful but then robbed JG for the goal

Imo we did change the shape of the team in the second half. We went to 4-2-3-1 and looked so much better for it.

I know his first corner hit the first man but after that he put in two very dangerous ones that Mings who seemed to everywhere tonight did well to head away from inside his 6 yard area. If our boys had attacked that same corner with the same vigour that Mings did in defending it youd be saying wow what a corner.

You can see why they signed Mings up. He headed every ball away this afternoon

You do remember how brilliant he was for his first five seasons right?

Last year was anomalous for the whole squad for many reasons. Eriksen and Dele in particular suffered from the fact that they were dragged out of their natural positions to paper over the cracks of our threadbare central midfield. They had to do the yeoman's work in midfield and couldn't focus on their strengths in the final third. They were both poor but didn't suddenly become shit overnight, it was a collective failing.

I'm sure you're right that there's a price that Levy would sell for. I'm just suggesting that we shouldn't be desperate to accept a lowball offer just because he'll leave on a free in a year. In the interim he could easily provide value that exceeds a derisory fee, which is what I'm sure clubs in Europe are hoping to get him for now that it's our last chance to sell him.

I'm sure I saw on Opta's twitter during the game that 58% of Eriksen's corner fail to beat the first man.

IMHO a very poor game by us, lots of the ball but very little end product, but even 0-1 down I was saying we could win this but still a very poor performance.
But still very glad to get the result.
